I called to get the credit lines combined. They transferred the balance over to the Target Visa from Guest Card and then closed it. They said this is how we always do it. I said Well I didn't ask for a balance transfer or the account closed. I asked for them to by combined. She said, they never do that. I called back again and talked to a supervisor and the same thing was stated.
I just got my Target Visa and I asked the same thing when I opened it and they gave me the same excuse. I said I have no intentions of using the guest card so can they be combined, the said no BUT once the Visa is activated the "system will automatically close the guest card". Yeah ok. The did lower my rate from 15.9 to 12.9. I told them looks like I just buy gum with the acct.
What they told you was the biggest LIE ever; if you want I will give you my old Target guest card if you will e-mail me. They will see where is was combined & credit limit transferred. Sister Girl
Well I got my guest card reinstated. BUT What I stated is no lie. And Yes I too got my apr lowered to 12.9%, I feel really important now.
I'm happy that you were able to get your guest card reinstated;did you retain your original credit limit ? I transferred my balance from my guest card(21% apr)to visa card (12.9 apr),then requested to transfer my c/l to the visa(which was done in Dec 01). Maybe procedures have changed since then(or perhaps I was just lucky). Sister Girl
Yeah I asked them if the procedures changed and they said they never did it, ever. I said, How is this possible when I had my friend do the same thing right in front of me on the phone just a few weeks ago. Made me so mad. Yeah they are trying to close accounts up now it seems.
Thier procedures always contradict as you well know;EVERYONE here has been told one thing & done another. They have said "NO LOWER APR RATE UNTIL EXP DATE"......but somehow it gets changed after presssing the issue(weird). Sister Girl
I think they are trying to get people to close accounts. I cannot get a credit line increase. It's been almost a year! I ask for one everyweek just to make them pay for the postage. And they list the same information each time. I checked my experian report and they have only done a soft inquiry once. I spoke with a supervisor last week and I told her I was balance transferring because they won't increase my cl. She said "I see that you have a zero balance, what do you need a credit line increase for?" They really do not care about customer retention.
