Recently I sent out letters disputing inquiries on my credit report. One of the companies, Allstate Insurance, wrote me back saying this: Dear Ms. V: Thank you for your response. In order to investigate the inquiry on your credit report, I do need additional information. Please call me 'collect' at 847 402 5448 x5681 so that I can assist you. Sincerely, Sharon F What else information do they want from me??? I included my name, address, ssn, and date inquiry was made. I'm not going to call...I only deal w/ these people by mail. Should I send them a more threatening letter demanding that they delete it immediatly, or do they really need anything else from me? Thanks...
anyone? I just want to know if Allstate is BSing me by saying they need more info before they can delete an inquiry.
Write a strongly worded letter telling them that if they have enough info to put it on, they have enough info to take it off. It's not rocket science. Good not talking to them. It sounds like she wants to get you on the phone for some other purpose. Send the letter.
they really sound full of it! Ok, I emailed the Allstate lady "Sharon" today saying I would be mailing my request for deletion of the inquiry to the main Allstate office, and that I would let them handle it since she "didn't have enough info" to take care of it. Well she emails me back saying: Ms. V, I did find out some info on removal of a credit inquiry. "If" it is an error, I have a contact that can assist you. If we sent you any solicitations at any time, then it is not any error. In NY, it is not required to obtain permission to run a credit inquiry. Please contact me at your earliest convenience so we can proceed. You may call me collect between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM. Re: they really sound full of it! any takers??? I may be a newbie, but this doesn't sound right to me.
Re: they really sound full of it! I have never heard of that. Email her back and tell her that you want all of your communications with her companyfully documented and would rather proceed with all communications in writing in the event that you want to take further action. This should get her attention.
