My last billing period ended and when I went to check the account it says "SMALL BALANCE CHARGE OFF -$ 1.83" under Payments and Credits.

I made a small purchase of about 2 dollars last month and I was expecting a bill for that sometime later this month.

Did discover card pay my bill or what? I dont get it???

Ok now what, do I have to pay this later on or what? Is this "chrage off" gonna be on my credit report?

NO!!!!!!!! It can't be on your credit report!!!!!

THEY ARE REFUSING TO COLLECT A PAYMENT ON IT...SO IF YOU HAVE NO BALANCE ON YOUR CARD PUT $1.97 IN GAS ON YOUR CARD FOR FREE EVERY MONTH I GUESS????

They would rather write off a couple bucks than send me the bill? I'll experiment with that, get my morning coffee tomorrow on Discover card.

Haven't had a balance with them since they played games with my BT rate few months back, I think I deserve free coffee once a month.

are you sure you can charge a couple of bucks a month and Discover will pay it and keep quiet? I mean it would be a great deal wouldn't it

Do all credit companies do this or is this just discover?
This is the first time I experienced this. quite a weird
    experience I must say.

and are you really really really sure this will not be on the credit report as a charge off or something negative?

100% POSITIVE~~~THEY CAN'T PUT IT ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT IF THEY CHOOSE TO EAT IT!!!!!!!!!

Ok I see but how would they update your credit report for your balance for that month?

I am still amazed at how they can do this, if everyone holding a discover card charges a couple of dollars every month and discover pays them all. Then wouldnt Discover be in quite a lot of debt.

A couple of years ago this happened to me with Bank One. They said if it's under $5 they wait until the bill gets over $5.

Now I have a charge off with them. They should have collected the $5 when they had the chance.

I just got off the phone with Discover and I asked if it will have any negativity on my credit report, she said no, it will have no negative effect. and told me it was just a courtesy thing because you are a good standing member and that discover card finds no reason to send out a bill for such a small amount. and also said like if they were sending out bills and you were delinquent for 180 days and not paying them then it would be a negative item. she told me this is not the case in my situation.

But I don't understand how can they even afford to do this??? lol

I have a weird feeling that they use the words "CHARGE OFF" in "LOW BALANCE CHARGE OFF" though. I don't like the term charge off lol

Can any members on this board who had Discover card give them a "LOW BALANCE CHARGE OFF", confirm that there's nothing listed on your reports about it?
