I was just curious on how long it has taken everyone to get where they are at in their credit repair efforts. I Started: 3/01 in low to mid 500's 17 months up to mid 600's However, I just found this site and my knowledge has more than tripled! So I think I'll hit 700 for all within 2 months! Anyone else?
how did you fix your credit what did you do and what site gave you knowledge can you give me that site and input. thanks also you can email me at godesdevine1@yahoo.com
Godes-A year ago when I started, I used many different sites, ordered some material (which I will never do again) and achieved moderate success through trial and error. Essentially, I just did an internet search on credit and read everything I could get my hands on, including the FCRA. After that I just kept sending letters every 30-40 days to the CRAs and have achieved about 60% success through constant disputing. After I found this site I just read all of the FAQs, and did searches on almost everything, spending hours reading threads. Because of this I feel I am much more educated on what I can do to intensify and speed my credit repair efforts. I know this isn't specific to your question, but if you do some research and make a plan of what to do, then it should all more easily fall into place. To assist in monitoring and disputing your credit, it helps to have memberships to Experian's Credit Expert and Equifax's Credit Watch I hope this helps.
thanks ya that is good i usually use eq.s score power but i have not used exp's anything i will try them next...
If you changed the name to Quixote, you'd pretty much have my story too. I started wildly disputing in June of 2001 on both my CR's as well as the CR's of The Lovely Mrs. Quixote. About half fell off the first month, a few more the second month (we had something like 76 derogs between us-- mostly paid collection/paid charge off). About the same time, I started reading and studying at CreditNet, and posting a couple of months after that. I didn't do anything beyond disputing until sometime in the fall. Fourteen months since my first dispute, I checked my EX and EQ scores this morning. EQ (FICO) stands at 727, and EX (CE) is now at 697. I have only one derogatory tradeline left, a paid charge off with Macy's that shows up on TU. I'm working on that one still.
TransUnion has more information in their file (and which they disclosed to others) about me than they disclosed to me. Before I could even make a dispute about their claims of my manner of payment in a particular month, I would have to know what their record states. I demanded the record. Certified Mail number 7001 2510 0007 1255 9616 entered at http://www.usps.com/shipping/trackandconfirm.htm confirms they signed for the letter July 24. So, it has taken over three weeks, so far.
Started in early April of this year. I only have one neg left on two reports just waiting for disputes to finish up. These are ready to come off have letters to prove shouldn't be there. The only thing after that is clean up my inqueries which I have started and make sure all balances are correct. I am applying for a mortgage this week.
started in November of last year... horrible scores, barely in 500 club.. now scores up in 600's, filing lawsuits.. hope to be squarely prime byChristmas.
Congratulations uniondiva! I wish I had found this site earlier, my credit climb would have gone much faster. BTW.. I really like your reference to Jabez
WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE ELOAN NUMBERS AND WHEN YOU DISPUTE THINGS ARE YOU DISPUTING WHAT YOU KNOW IS YOUR AND JUST SEEING WHAT HAPPENS OR WHAT MAY NOT BE YOURS I MEAN WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU DOING THERE ... SORRY TO BE STUPIT ABOUT IT BUT I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL PEOPLE SAY THAT AND I JUST WANT TO BE CLEAR. I HAVE BEEN OFF THE BOARD FOR SEVERAL YEARS AFTER BEING AN EVERY DAY READY SO I AM JUST TRYING TO KEEP OR CATCH BACK UP...
E-loan is a free way of getting an idea of what your Trans Union FICO score is. If you add about 6 points to a E-loan score you should be at the real FICO score.
It took me about a year and a half, but I was only disputing with the CRAs, 2 tradelines at a time, for the first 6 months. Then I strayed for a few months and then got serious the last 9. I probably could have done it in a year or less had I found this site a little earlier. All my scores went from 500/600 to 700/800.
It's taken us 8 months to get from high 500s-low 600s to a range now from 680s-730s. We had a couple of paid chargeoffs, a couple of paid CAs, state tax liens, IRS liens, and high utilization. Sadly, since we didn't know squat about how scoring really worked, we had been carrying $7500+ @ 23.99% on Providian for over a year, thinking that by showing them we could handle that kind of balance and by making payments of $500-2500 a month they would lower our APR and raise our CL. We had the card for 3 years...what a joke! We found this board in late December '01 and paid Providian off (as well as GetSmart and NextCard - same deal) the very next month. In February, Citi gave us total credit lines of just over $20K...and we haven't looked back. We still have 2 state liens on one EX report, one paid $0 CA on one TU report, and one IRS lien on one EQ report. We're still working on the last derogs, but our goal was obtaining the credit we needed for our business, not maximizing our scores. Improving the scores was only a means to an end. The way we look at it, as long as our scores don't prevent us from achieving our goals, they don't really matter at this point. DemPooches
I've been working on it for a little over 7 weeks, and I've gone from 19 derog TL's between the 3 reports, to 3 (2 coming off on their own in Dec) I have a judgement that I'm working on now, and then I'll be done. I just started on my husbands reports!
I started over a year ago, and just got Citi in May. Not clean by all accounts, but I'm happy with what I have now.
