Yes, yes, YES!! Trans Union was reporting a $6000 chargeoff for me. I got a letter from the OC saying they couldn't link me to the account, but TU verified it anyway. I called TU and argued. Talked to several people but they wouldn't budge. Got my updated report to day and they've deleted. Now if Experian weren't so stubborn...
Thanks, Love! It really is just a matter of persistence. The CRA was adamant and had great reasons to back up why they would NOT delete this item. Then they did...
Congratulations!! You will definately find ALMOST EVERYONE you talk to at a CRA will judge you as a low life, and they will act very arrogant. It's my impression that if you try to call them/write them pertaining to deleting a negative account, they AUTOMATICALLY assume you are a lying (just my impression) Anyway, with that said, you need to get that crediter to draft you up a letter saying the account does not belong to you - then you can send that off to the other uncooperative CRA's. -Sal
But most of the times we are lying aren't we? Let's face it. We just don't agree that we should have to pay for something that is seven years old. When I say pay for something, I mean be penalized for that period of time. I think that five years should be the cut off.
Well perhaps YOU are lying but don't go throwing around that We stuff. The most effective ways to get something deleted is to find an inaccuracy in the tradeline. When you dispute based on this you are not lying you are just holding them to the standard that the law allows and since there is precious little protection for the consumer out there sometimes this is all you have to fight with.
I have yet to have an OC or a CA be able to make it past the validation stage, so there's no need for lying.
Yeah. These were big, believe me. Not feeling like it's hopeless is the most important thing, imo. Good luck!
