Scenerio: Any info on this would be greatly appreciated:)

An account is paid off...ie. student loan, was 90 days past due, was transferred(consolidation) and paid off in full. On equifax, this account is listed as currently past due(90 days +). The account is also listed as closed.

My question is once this loan was paid off in full, shouldn't it be reported as "Pays as agreed" and then just have the 90 day delinquency listed on the bottom? Sheesh, it isn't currently past due, there's nothing TO be past due. Duh... Equifax has it listed as a "Delinquint Record that IS past due at the time the information was reported to your creditors."

I have tried to answer how this could be possible, but logic points to the contrary. Seems like logic and equifax are VERY contradictory terms.

    Thx,
    gracie

they don't have to report it pays as agrees but it certianly cannot be late if it has a ) balance. I would ask eq to verify procedures used to verify this account and would also contact oc to see if eq actually verified......

(they can report as less that r1 if late pays are real)

I had a SL in the same situation. It was paid during consolidation but it was still being reported as currently past due, but also reported as "transfered/sold".

Call the OC and have copies of their reporting ready to fax to them. Keep in mind, the CSRs do not know much about credit reporting, so they may not understand what you'll be trying to tell them. Try to get a supervisor who understands credit reporting a little better.

And, be persistant. It took me several calls/faxes to get them to fix thier reporting.

    Thanks scout!

So, if i read your post correct, just have copies of my credit report(s) ready, and fax to get them updated to current/paid off?

Interesting day. I actually called my old student loan carrier, and they had NO record of my account being past due whatsoever:)

He is sending me verification of this, and I got his name and extension. Sent dispute into the CRA's saying "never late".

Hopefully, they will erase the negative history on that account! Otherwise, trouble.
