A colleague of mine at my office just told me that he received a while back an offer on his current bofa cc to lower the apr to 4.75% on everything - purchases, cash, and bts - without an annual fee. This is not the "limited time" offer on bts only that many bofa cardholderrs (including me) have received. It's an offer to lower the rate on his bofa card for eveything - ongoing. Does anyone have this? if it's available - i'm going to try and see if they'll do it on my Bofa ccs - based on my internal score with them - without "hard" inquiries. P.S. kbanger - you snooty thing - this doesn't involve APPLYING for anything
Mark, I just called Bank of America reg. this matter. I called their Rate Department and I've been told that their lowest rate for purchases is 9.9% fixed and for cash advances 19.9%. They do offer 4.75% only for the life of transfered balances.
Thanks guys I'm going to catch up with my colleague at the office on Monday and make sure he knew what he was talking about. i specifically asked him if it was a limited time offer like the ones I've received lately - but he said that it wasn't - it was a change to the card terms. i'll double check that with him on Monday - he may have gotten it wrong.
Wachovia and Chase both had "Prime only" cards - prime rate + 0%, but there was an annual fee. I suppose for a heavy user/revolver the bank may make money on it, just not that much. I've gotten 9.9 with the 4.75 offers, nothing lower. Kind of ironic that Citi already lowered my MC to 7.9% - I've had that card for 2 months, and my B of A for almost 4 years! Keep us posted! -mj
Same here. Amex, Citi, Chase, even the Associates, all lowered my APR to very competitive rates. BofA won't budge from a fixed 12.9%. I refuse to revolve any balance at that rate, so they're not making a dime on my account. Saar
I recently closed on a house with a BOFA mortgage and during the process a bank rep contacted me about other BOFA products. After a long discussion they opened a credit card account for me with a 6% APR as long as I have my mortgage with them. JP
JP- What other accounts do you have with B of A?? I'm closing a refi - moving my mort. to B of A - and any additional info you can give me would be sincerely appreciated. -mj
Before the mortgage, I didn't have any accounts with BOFA. I filled out the online mortgage application and got the "need more information" message. I called and waited forever, finally I just called the local BOFA mortgage center and a loan officer took care of getting my approval in 30 minutes. She mentioned that a BOFA account rep would be calling me about other products. The BOFA account rep called and I told her that I had a few balances that I would like to transfer to BOFA, but only if they could save me $$$$ by beating my best rate (7.65%). She asked how much I wanted to transfer, I replied with $15K, 3 minutes later, she said OK they can do 6% for life (same rate as the mortgage) as long as I have the mortgage with them. Hope this information helps, JP
Saar- Did you try contacting Bradford White at BOA, I posted his email a few months back. He lowered me from 12.9 to 9.9 and gave me the 4.75 BT for life. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to get my Citi card lower than 9.65 fixed....any thoughts? It's 9 months old.
JP- Thanks for the info. Are you in an area that has BofA branches? I'll try to see what I can get after we close the loan (they really do have the lowest mort. rates I've been able to find - and the process was unbelievably easy). KHM- I had my platinum for 2 mos. when they lowered to 7.99% fixed (and Cap1 says on their TV ads "the lowest long-term rate" ... phooey!). Others here have gotten lower... just call regular customer service. -mj
MJ In my area BOFA has branches everywhere and your right, the mortgage rates are extremely low and the whole process is about as painless as possible. Once you have a mortgage with them, they really try to get the rest of your banking business. JP
THANK YOU GUYS!!!! I called Citibank and they lowered me from 9.65 to 7.74 variable. The only thing that's weird is I could have SWORE the 9.65 was fixed, but the lady said it was variable. WHATEVER!!! I am so excited!!!
Congratulations KHM, BTW I believe you new APR is 7.65 not 7.74 because Citibank always add 1.9 or 2.9 or 3.9 or 4.9 to the Prime Rate.
George, I called several time different Citibank Departments and was told their best rate is Prime Rate + 1.9 %. Nobody ever mentioned Prime Rate + 0.9 % .
SOMEBODY HERE HAS IT!!! I HAVE PRIME + 3.90%...BUT IT WAS 12.74%...(PRIME+7.99%) 0.00% EXPIRES NOVEMBER 2002
So far, only sam here got it. No one else has. (With the exception of our resident Citibank CSR *cough*) Saar
