This post may or may not make me persona non grata on the board, but here goes:

Apparently Bill Bauer had a fire at his home recently. Not a total loss, just one room, but the smoke and water damage was enough to drive him to have to stay with a relative.

Anyway, while he was gone, some of the slimier elements of our society decided they needed some of Bill's stuff more than he did and proceeded to help themselves.

I understand that a lot of folks don't care for either Bill or his ways, but hey - He NEEDS our help and that's what made this country great - HELPING EACH OTHER OUT WHEN WE'RE IN NEED!

I gave my contribution via paypal. This information on where to ssend it to is over on CreditWrench.

I'm not pushing this on anyone, but quite frankly, I see this as an opportunity to do good and I believe it's a much better cause than "savekaryn".

"If you make a man a fire, he will be warm for a day. If you set a man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life."

    LOL...

OK...Now really. I tried to go to the creditwrench site and I got about 50 script errors, then thousands of pop ups. If he fixes his site maybe I will check it out. Homeownners insurance DOES cover theft and fire though.

    LOLOL,

You need to be around a lot longer than 12 posts to understand.

But you're right, we are sick.

Yeah, well I've been around for a lot longer than 12 posts, and I think hijacking a thread whose intent is to help someone whose house was burned and burglarized is sick.

Bill was a member of this community for a long time. While he is certainly a controversial character, why should we use smogtek's thread in order to rehash that controversy yet again?

Anyone who ever benefitted from the Nutcase letter (and there are quite a few here including myself) has benefitted indirectly from Bill's counsel. Not everything that Bill contributed here was useless, and in any case I think we can save the Bill-bashing for another thread.

I agree, kicking somebody when they're down, is not cool.

    Sorry, I'm out of Starpoints.

P.S. - Bill was a member of this community only up to the point when he determined to destory it so as to promote his personal business.

regardless of what Bill did or did not do, he surely does not deserve what has happened to him. I hope that you who think this is funny never have something like this happen to you, if it does, lets hope that others are a little more decent than you are. I don't have much since everything is tied up in our house loan right now, but I will be happy to donate what I can.

If you see this, I am truly sorry for you Bill, I don't know you, but God Bless.

As someone who has ben around alot less posts than p-docs I still feel compelled to add my .02 cents/sense. Bill Bauer is certainly not an uncolorful commentator but he has in his own way helped people to repair thedir credit. Yes he charges for his services but this is the good ole USA and capitalism is what makes our world rock. I have never paid for BBs services but when I first went looking for sites to address credit repair his was the first one that popped up. After reading many posts there I emailed BB with some queries which he responded to promptly.

Whilst I agree that homeowners insurance should cover his damage and certainly he should have had homeowners insurance...there is still a human element here to be considered. I empathize (as one who also suffered fire damage at one time) and sympathize ( as hopefully a compassionate person) and will be happy to send some small donation that might ease my fellow human, my fellow American in his hour of need. Remember "karma" ... what goes around comes around...and there but for the grace of god could go any one of us.

    Just my humble opinion,

    clc

Please do not rate our decency. You don't have the slightest idea what each member here does or does not do for his/her community and to what extent. Thank you.

I was a Fire Fighter in New Mexico for 5 years. I saw many houses burn down. I saw little old ladies watch their trailer house burn to the grown and see the hopelessness in her eyes as she cried for the loss of pictures of her children and grandchildren. I saw a 50-year old man cry in the road in front of his 2million-dollar house, for his Cocktail. Fire is a devastating thing, with no mercy and no pity. And a home is a sacred place for all of us, weather it is a crummy one-room apartment or a multimillion-dollar estate. Have mercy on your enemies you may have to ask mercy from them some day.

We are all humans, we are all likely to be hurting at some time. We are all likely to take a helping hand when it is extended to us. We all have animosity for the one who scorns us in our moment of weakness.

â?? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.â? JC

Well, Doc, I actually was commenting about the "us being sick" part in a lighthearted kind of way, not about Mr. Bauers' unfortunate situation so if that comment was including what I said, I apologize to him and to everyone else.

Thank you for sharing those stories with us...in my fire I lost more sentimental things than material things and I have to admit that I cried as I knew those things could never be replaced by money.

I do not feel I have the right to judge anyone on their opinions whether they be nay or yay...but as Americans we should be proud of our heritage as the most giving nation in the world. We certainly proved that in a major way after 9/11/01. Bill is not loved by all but that does not lessen what he has and is suffering...if you don't want to help out financially than say a prayer to whomever your superior power is and wish him a hasty recovery to a very life altering event.

I have been around CNers enough to know that most all of you are humane and giving people. This is an important aspect of why CN is successful. There are those here whose credit problems were solved eons ago and are still visiting and helping everyone. So let's continue in that spirit...let's not lower ourselves to make personal attacks...let's all be friends.
