My dad recieved a pre-approved offer in the mail for this card. They also gave him a pre approval code if he wants to apply online. Does this gurantee that he will be approved? and if so, do they instantly approve? and do they tell you what the limits are?. Sorry for all the questions.

Go to the web site (A SPECIAL ONE) and fill it out and see...

IT MAY SAY YOU GET AN INSTANT ANSWER...if not...it will be like 2 weeks to get a SORRY or a card...

I know someone who got the Platinum Select after a mailed pre-approval offer, then applied on-line and got instant approval for a set amount. They also approved an increase during the same on-line transaction, for a balance transfer.

Beware, though, of requesting a credit limit increase from Citi yourself, after you are approved, rather than waiting for them to offer you one. They pulled another hard inquiry -- their excuse was that the credit limit increase (which was approved, by the way), was not initiated by Citi.

I think this stinks, when they could simply do an AR. I'm beginning to think that hard inquiries are free of charge to the creditor, and AR's cost them bucks.

We have the PS Citi card from the BDD.

    Opps hit send to fast...

Anyway, score at the time was 650ish. They combined the AA gold and silver into the PS for a total of 9500. We then called a month later and got an increase for balance transfers and they gave us 2 more grand. Never a hard pulled.

I am wondering if they PAY for inquires per day they are on your report!?!?!?!?!

When they go BYE BYE...THE MONEY STOPS!!!

...or the credit card company asks for a REFUND of the money they paid because it is NOT on your report any longer...

so, if he has FICO in mid 700's is it reasonable for him to expect 10k limit.

    I got 2 X $5,000 (BDD) + $3,500 (1/2 BDD) = $13,500

BUT I COULDN'T GO IN THE FRONT DOOR...

...but they could always give him a "TOY" card...

Any time I have applied for a citi product, Experian was pulled. I did the BDD in January when I think I had a 668(don't remember for sure) and I got instant approval for the silver $6500 and gold $5000. Combined for Plat Select $11,500.
