I was approved for $24500 just now through them. Has anyone used them? Any trouble getting a dealer to accept them? I have printed out all the loan documents (13 pages) and all I have to do is take the paperwork to a dealer and walk out or drive out of there. Thanks for the info on Americredit.

They are subprime, but I just finished paying off a loan with them and they were ok to deal with.

Thanks Dave... I've read that people have trouble getting dealers to take Peoplefirst and Household Auto. I hope AmeriCredit isn't that bad. Anyone know?

I was approved for $20,000 max. Before they sent me the paperwork a representative called and walked me through the process. Asked what kind of vehicle I was looking for and provided me with a list of dealers in my area that used Americredit. I opted for a Toyota Camry. Went into the dealership, picked out the car I wanted and they processed the paperwork. The only thing is that the sales manager kept trying to get me to finance through them. I told him if I can walk out of here with an $18,000 car with no money down, I'd be happy to use his financing. He couldn't do it so I got a 2001 Toyota Camry with no money down. So far, I've not experienced any problem with them. Rate is high, but I plan on refinancing at the beginning of the year. Good Luck!

I just got a 25K loan with them as well - from application to funding, so far they have been good.

    Congrats

    DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been with Americredit for three years and it's been a nightmare. At first they were ok. I've never been late and it's on mt Credit htat I was late three times. The only way I got them to take it off is I'm in the Army and it was taken directly out of my check. The payment was due on the 15th and they always received their payment on the second of every month. When I came home in October for my grandfathers furneral my car was stolen, my insurance would not pay the full amount that was owed on the car. At first I did not know I did have gap insurance so I was sent to Amricredit's sub collaterial dept. I was suppose to get a car for the amout that the insurance co. gave them which was $5700.00. It had to be the same year or better(2001)with a warranty. Was this easy? NO!!! I didn't know anything about gap insurance until a dealer ask me if I had it. All my papers were in my car when it was stolen. So I went to the dealer and got a copy of my sales agreement and lo and behold I had gap insurance. I contacted Americredit and told them about it and they told me I didn't. To make this part of the story short my car is paid off. and I will NEVER DEAL WITH AMERICREDIT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!. One last thing, I wanted to pay off the amount I thought I owed and they told me that I had to pay an early pay off fee which would be $1500.00, (after the insurance company paid them I still owed $3150.00)
that was outrageous. The customer reps are rude and talk to you in any type of manner. Go to planetfeedback.com and see all the complaints that they have about Americredit, and take a look at their track record with the BBB. If you do deciede to go with thwm GOOD LUCK!!!
