What is the time frame that an OC can send a debt to a CA? In another thread, I posted that a friend of mine moved from an apartment about 45 days ago. Yesterday, she got a letter from a CA. 5 to 10 days after she moved out she sent a CRRR letter disputing the charges, no response, except now a letter from a CA. Is there a law for a certain timeframe? Thanks. Charlie

I don't think there is a law, charlie,

Just means the apartment complex once someone has moved doesn't deal with the bills themselves, they turn them over to someone else.

Why not an accountant instead or a billing service instead of a CA? Kinda lets you know how much success they have getting paid, LOL

    Yo Charlie,

Do a search on "renters rights" or "tennants rights" for your state and see what you find.

    :)

Thanks Butch and Sassy! I guess when you are in a big college town, like Austin, it's easier to send it to collections like Sassy said. Charlie
