This comes up when I sign in to view account information:

"Effective October 14th your Providian account was converted to an Emerge MasterCard account. At that time the contact e-mail address for Customer Service changed to: cardholderservices@emergecard.com

Please keep this new e-mail address in a convenient location for future use."

I guess we find out Monday. You'd think we'd have been sent something first!? Geez...Anyway I had to use mine today and it went through with no problem.

They closed my acct. without even as much as an AR. Didn't like them anyway but it was an old tradeline. I have no negatives, am not subprime. I kept the card active by having a few things charged monthly automatically. I didn't appreciate receiving notice of my account closure after the fact.

I have no respect for the way PVN does business. I will continue bangin' their stock from time to time. Best Regards PVN, LOL

I spent quite a while searching myself but with no luck. Evidently "Emerge Mastercard" just doesn't exist until Monday, LOL!

Didn't I hear/read somewhere that Providian was court ordered to get out of the subprime business?

Yes, very obvious, when you to log on to your account, you don't see any information any longer regarding your account, just the following message:

Effective October 14th your Providian account was converted to an Emerge MasterCard account. At that time the contact e-mail address for Customer Service changed to: cardholderservices@emergecard.com
Please keep this new e-mail address in a convenient location for future use.

No APR letter, online account still shows Providian Visa info.

Wow I get back from vacation and this is what I run in to. I need to pay my bill (I always pay online) and cannot, I guess I will just wait and see what happens.

Same here...have checked regularly, no changes. Wonder if they will just close my account since it has been at 0 balance for months.

Yup, mine too! Just logged in and GetSmart was converted to Emerge MC effective 10/14. My regular Providian Visa Gold was not converted, however.

Maybe all GetSmarts only were sold???

    All my scores are 700+...

Mine too ............. But my acct with providian is paid in full and account closed by consumers request.
I am also a Pays as agreed with no lates on my report.

So Emerge has no reson to even have my information. Since the acct has been closed for 1.5 months.

    I guess we will see.

I was thinking the same thing, because my regular Providian account has not been affected

This is the new message I get when trying to log on this morning, 10/14:

"Online access is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
If you were interrupted during a transaction, please make sure to check that it was completed the next time you login. Customer Service is available at 1-800-647-8641."

So the question still remains, who controls the "emerge" card, Providian, compucredit, merit bank?

EMERGE="Emerge from your terrible credit past"

    ASPIRE="Aspire to have good credit"

Hmmm, common theme sounds like Compucredit to me!

    LOL

Ok Which websites are you guys signing on to? I always use the getsmart.com (even when they said not to anymore)

I had a providian and a getsmart both closed a few months back (June I think), one started reporting closed by consumer PIF right away the other JUST started reporting closed....
anywho, When I go to getsmart.com I get the my account has been sent to emerge blah blah blah

when i go to Providianonline.com It says it's unable to process my request at this time.

Now my providian WAS an Aria that I had opened 8/00 and my getsmart was a getsmart from day one opened 8/01, just trying to do some investigating :)

I have been checking the website but still get through to my info just fine. I opened a GetSmart Visa in 8/2001 and got changed to a Providian Gold Visa in 8/2002 still with a $1k limit. I use it for about $800-$1.5K a month for business and make payments as soon as I get expense checks in (2-3x a month).
