I don't know if I missed this post at all today but the new "Emerge" card arrived at KHM's house today. Now here's the funny part....I cancelled my Providian account(s) (2 of them) a few months back. One of them reported as cancelled by consumer right away the other JUST started last month or the month before. So today there's an envelope in the mail and I feel a CC WOOHOO!!! Open it up and there's a card for DH but not me. It says it's for my old acct with PRovidian ending in acct#xxxx. But there's NO card for me!! And it's off MY account. So I call customer service before activating it and get told the wait is over 20 mins. call back. I call a different # and end up activating the card. Its a whole new Acct# AND the back of the card says: This card is issued by Providian National Bank, Tilton NH or Providian Bank, Salt Lake City UT, pursuant to a license from Mastercard International. In the letter I got with it it doesn't say my CL or my interest rate Now how's this gonna report???
Be careful, that should be whatever your Providian card was (i.e. same interest,same annual fee, same limit) No online payment or website for that matter. Telephone payments $15.00 Late fee $35.00 I have decided to let my card remain on my report until Nov. 1, then my card makes the 2 year mark, and then I will close the account. It just seems like I would be asking for unwanted trouble keeping the card. I thought Getsmart was bad!
That's ok, I didn't plan on using it, but hubby sure does need the tradeline, he's only got about 7 most opened the last year so why not kill his score all at once.
Yup, received my eMerge card today...they sent two cards in same envelope. I must say this is the FUGLIEST card I have ever seen in my life, the old GetSmart was far better than the eMerge "GOLD" Mastercard! It is very interesting that the cards say issued by Providian on back and there is no mention of Compucredit, although the cards were mailed from Compucredit's PO Box in Atlanta. Also, there was no terms insert, just a note that your current terms will remain unchanged. Needless to say I'll be closing this bad boy.... EVEN THE PAY-AT-THE-PUMP CARD READERS WILL LAUGH AT THIS "GOLD" POS

hi what should i do as I paid off my getsmart acct about 4 mos ago... it is fully paid and closed i got the emerge letter yesterday i really do not want another tradeline please help me! thanks
