What is the general opinion of Bill Bauer of creditwrench.com?

I've heard some good things and bad. Mostly that he sells his information when it should be free to those who need it (like creditnet :) )

Just wondering if anyone has any stories on Bill and his techniques.

Do a search on the board. You'll be able to form your own opinion. He did have some good advice. Charlie

He was on Creditnet. When you do a search on him you'll see the soap opera unfold. I agree with you, Butch. Charlie

If you had the money, how much would you pay to have 700+ credit if you started in the low 500's? Alot of people will pay the big bucks for 700+ credit. Charlie

After reading the past posts on this guy, I'm just going to leave this subject alone. I don't want to be responsible for opening any old wounds around here.

People don't hate on BiLL he has a wealth of info under his belt. He also gave me the info need to get my Judgement removed. oHH yeah he gave the info for frEE. As for him to not charge and give it aLL away. Come on lets be real. Info like this is not that hard to find but taking the time to do so and haveing that experience weLL that cost. Especialy when that is aLL you do and people consume you with there questions. It would be nice if it where aLL frEE, mind you he does put alot out there on his board. But then again it would be nice if the bank would just give me a loan and not expect the $$ back.

What is wrong with your "EE" keys and your "LL" keys? Is your caps lock stuck on E and L?

    LOL

Several years ago, I read every credit book I could find. I am a bit obsessive, so I would guess I read 20+ books plus everything on the internet (I was laid up after a car accident... so I couldn't get off the couch for several months). anyway...

    http://www.mix6.com/

has some of the best techniques and most comprehensive explanations about credit repair. And... amazingly, it is free.

Read this first and you'll understand more about credit repair from this one source than from most books.

The only real book I'd recommend is
Gorilla Credit Repair. can't remember the author. Also a very good piece of info plus ways to make sample letters too.

Ultimately, it all comes down to disputing, letter writing, and catching them making mistakes. Once you catch your creditors, the bureaus, and the collection agencies making mistakes... it's up to you how far to push the issues. Suing them has had mixed (mostly positive) results. Read Doc's Litigious Mindset post too... great source of info on that line of thought.

    Marie,

I think that's "Guerrilla Guide to Credit Repair". Gorillas, on the whole, have fairly decent credit.

    Sorry, couldn't resist :)

You're correct, of course ;) They can charge all the bananas they can eat! I must have been thinking in phonological ambiguities when I posted :)

That's actually pretty funny now that I think about it.. of course... when I'm negotiating with a bank or a bureau I feel like a gorilla... beating on my chest... marking my territory... telling them to go away while I enjoy my bananas...

I bet I could put out a book with that title and few people would even catch it :) Or I could put a picture of a gorilla on the front for fun!

I actually meant to post about Bill as well. My mind must be off today (going on vacation tomorrow.. my mind clearly is already overseas)...

Bill gives some pretty good advice, actually. If you have a stubborn issue he can be valuable. He thinks "differently" and that's his best asset. I tried to post some good reference material for you b/c ultimately, you need to understand the system and how it works so you can better evaluate anyone's advice to you. When you have a basic understanding of how this whole thing operates, you can decide on a strategy that represents not only a good path to success but also one within your risk tolerance ;)

Q: How do you stop a gorilla from charging?
A: Take away his credit card.

I'm doing the CreditWrench program right now and it's been working good so far. Bill is a very knowledgable guy and his profitable approach is very great for ppl who have time for it, not me. But I am happy and I feel that I might stay with the CW program for another couple of months after which I'll know enough to deal with it on my own.

His website offers a lot of info and I learned a ton when I first came on to it. It's from there that I found this site, where I learned a great deal as well.

    Good for you,

Have you contributed to the BBauer fire/disaster relief fund?

I didn't know there was one. Has Bill recovered from this incident? I believe his home was looted and all his hardware was stolen. Is this correct?

That is what he reported. Then a diligent c-netter contacted the OKC fire department, and police department and inquired if a fire or theft was report was recently filed in Bill's neighborhood, and low and behold none was.

Do a search on fire, or Bauer and read for yourself.

Bill also posted on his board that there wasn't point in reporting the theft to the police, it would be an excercise in futility. Guess he thinks once someone steals something they shouldn't have to worry about getting caught.
