Hi all, this looks like a good card:

    No annual fee
    No pre-set spending limit

0% BT rate for 12 months with no fees

Can earn rewards points that never expire

Anyone have it ? Is it really hard to get compared to the other Citi cards ?

    Thx.

Interesting offer...I was especially fascinated by the part that said that finance charges for purchases do not accrue until after the second billing cycle. (Although I wonder how they manage that since the grace period is listed as being 20 days...shouldn't it be 60 for this to work?)

I think the grace period is still 20 days for new purchases. Finance charges will accrue for balances that have been carried for some time.

Ex: If you charge $100 after having a zero balance, you'll have 20 days to pay it off after the statement closes, otherwise interest will start accruing. Say if you pay $50, you'll have a balance of $50 which will accrue interest, but if you make any new purchases soon, they will not accrue interest until the next billing cycle (they will not be figured into the calculation until later).

New purchases do not have grace periods if you're carrying balances on most cards, except this one.

I read in some article that Citigroup desire to emphasize the "Citi" brand because of too high association fees they pay to MC and Visa. Is this new card something like sample or project test ???

CITIBANK wanted to DE-EMPHASIZE the VISA/MC names...

CITIBANK wanted to put the VISA on the back of the card...VISA said "IT MUST BE ON THE FRONT OF THE CARD"!!!

...so they KINDA' dumped VISA...(BUT M/C IS IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER ON MY PLATINUM SELECT CARD)

Hi there George...one of the cards Citi issues in the VISA flavor is the Mellon Bank Platinum card. Actually, the Mellon card comes in both VISA or MC. I happen to have a MC because I received a pre-approved offer for it a year or so ago and was accepted.

Got the card a few days ago. The MC logo is on the back of the card. I guess Visa didn't want to do this so Citi dumped them.

This is actually a "World" MC with all the associated benefits. You can personalize the name in front of the card (citi.______). Can anyone think of any good names (under 13 letters) ?

Can't use Platinum or Diamond cause they're already taken.

Hi steve -- what exactly is a "World" MasterCard? (Sorry I don't mean to sound dumb or anything but the term is new to me.)

It has all the Platinum benefits plus no pre-set spending limit, $3,000 supplemental lost luggage insurance, $1,000,000 travel accident insurance, and concierge service. The World MC benefits are similar to the Visa Signature benefits except the Visa card also gives you car rental upgrades with Thrifty.
