Amex keeps turning me down for blue (EQ 682) and I'm wondering if green is easier and would get my foot in the door with Amex...or should I keep applying for blue and hope they will get tired of turning me down...lol?

    Thanks!

I would bank on getting the green. Your foot will be in the door. They approved me for the green with 650 EQ score. However, I received a preapproval in the mail. Are you binge applying for AMEX credit? If you apply to much, than exessive inquires will show up on your report. When denied, what are the reasons?

I only have 1 inquiry showing up on EQ because of bumpage. I get declined with reasons along the lines of balances too high on existing credit lines or something like that. Most of my tradelines aren't reporting cl's so it looks like I'm using something like 80% when I'm not.

Green tends to be much easier to get than Blue, Gold is too.

If you want a revolving card, Delta Sky Miles or Optima tend to be much easier than Blue. But Green and Gold are the easiest of all. (Maybe because of the annual fees.)

Amex Green was my very first card. My credit report was empty when they approved me 5 years ago.

Well...apparently its not easier for me to get...lol. I applied for the classic Delta Skymiles and got the "you will hear from us in 7 to 10 days" message. Then turned around and applied for green and got the same message. That is a strong indication to me that both were declined.

Sometimes I wonder why I ever bothered with correcting the errors on my reports. It seems I was offered more credit before I because than now...although admittedly, the rate is MUCH better.

As explained previously, Amex wants to see at least 2 cards with 3 years of perfect payments, to be approved for a revolving acct. If you don't have that type of history, chances are you'll be denied. The green however, as far as I know, does not have that requirement.

Don't despair. We've gotten that message on almost every application either of us has put in with AMEX.

It still may happen. Your work hasn't all been in vain. Don't give up.

Thanks for the encouragement, but I just found out they pulled EX instead of EQ...arggggh. EX shows me at 3% available and I now have seven (7) count them...inquiries. I can't believe they didn't pull Equifax.

Oh what a pain! I HATE it when that happens!

Did they pull EX for both cards?

Must have, although its not showing up under credit manager but I didn't feel like pulling up the whole report. It isn't showing under EQ though and CM is showing a new inq.

Not to be an A$$( to a newbie), but who are you, where did you come from, and where are you getting your TOTAL misinformation from, and better yet, why haven't you read the first 3 threads yet???!!!!

Please do not spread mis-information about something so obvious,. . . it ruins your credibility

Proof please. They have pulled equifax every time for me. So what do you say about that?

I keep hearing about bumpage, can you tell me how to accomplish that?

Well, I don't know if it is necessary to be so rough on the newbie. Every AMEX pull in 2001 on my credit reports was on EQ. Every AMEX pull they've made in 2002 on my credit reports has been on TU. As such, he/she is at least part right.
