Over the past year, I've had my husband add me as an authorized user to his cards. Naturally, my thinking was that his limits would help improve my scores. Unfortunately, several of his cards are Capital One, so they only report high balances. Can I call and remove myself as an AU or does my husband have to do it? Seems to me like I could do it myself if I no longer want to be an AU on his cards. LOL...can one be forced to be an AU???? Sorry...I'm delirious today.

...OR just call the 800# and tell them to DROP HIM/HER from the account as an AUTHORIZED USER...

I have wife as "AU" on a few of my accounts...I FOUND IT HURTS HER F.I.C.O. IF I "MAX" OUT MY CARD!!!

I probably should DUMP her "AU" for F.I.C.O. reasons...

Most companies will let you opt yourself out as the AU. I had some trouble with FUSA, but MBNA, CITI, and Chase were all cooperative. Check on-line first to see if you can do it over the web, that's the easiest option and least messy if available. I know CITI and MBNA both have it.

Thank you all and ditto, George...this will be purely for FICO reasons. He's the man of my dreams and there is no trouble in paradise here...lol.

When I tried to get my wife off my MERVYNS, JC PENNEYS, and a couple others...they wanted to know what reason..DIVORCE, SEPARATION, FIGHTING...NO YOU STUPID IDDIOT~~~DOES NOT APPLY!!!

THEY ACTUALLY SAID NO!!! So I closed ALL THE ACCOUNTS!!!

That is why NOW, I said for F.I.C.O. reasons...
