New tactic with TU....

    As some of you may recall, I've been fighting with TU to get them to stop reporting my credit limits as $0. Even N/A would be better because at least then FICO would go to high balance when calculating my score. Anyway...I disputed an account that has a high balance of $2,600 but the CL is $6,000 and told them to report complete info. They deleted it. Fine. It bumped my score by 20 points. I have now disputed a second Cap One account for the exact same reason.

    The main reasons my score is so low have to do with high utilization...or at least that's how it looks. Soooo...if they don't want to report complete, then its fine if they don't report at all. Just means the line is hidden when I go to apply for Chase or Generations.

    Will let you know how this next one turns out, but I suspect if they delete I will get another score bump.

    ~~~Everybody's playing the game, but nobody's rules are the same...nobody's on nobody's side...~~~ sorry...that song jumped into my head...lol. Any fans of the play, Chess out there?
    Good luck whyspers, has anyone attempted to sue cap1 over this before? Surely 1 good lawsuit would change their deceptive ways?
    I wish i could explain more (company policy) but TU has been folding quite easily lately.
    Clue. . . do a search on "Marie's" letter to TU for easy violations and ITS letter.
    My boss is looking over that report put out by EQ on how not reporting credit limit affects scores. I think its a good case...will find out next week what he thinks...lol. I think it would be excellent class action material and because I really think there is potential here, I didn't want to file it myself unless I couldn't get him or another attorney interested. Me settling with them for damages wouldn't change their policy and I'm simply not qualified (nor do I have the money) to do this right in a way that will make a huge difference.
    I think the suit needs to include not only cap one, but also the credit bureaus and other companies that are doing this (Citi comes to mind). Credit bureaus shouldn't put anything that is incomplete on the report, regardless of what the information provider says. This is willful in my opinion...but we shall see :)
    In the meantime, however...I actually think this thing with TU deleting will work to my benefit. Should certainly get rid of the balances too high and the too many new accounts...lol. Might get rid of my Citibank tl next...lol. I have to chuckle thinking their policy may actually work to my benefit...lol.
    CAPITAL ONE "THINKS" it is the same...CREDIT LIMIT=HIGH BALANCE
    F.Y.I. some people here have got the CRA'S to put the CREDIT LIMIT back on...but when CAPITAL ONE updates...it is back to HIGH BALANCE...
    I THINK THE CRA'S AGREE THAT THE CREDIT LIMIT SHOULD BE STATED...BUT THEY CAN'T FORCE CAPITAL ONE TO DO IT...
    If the CRA'S didn't think the CREDIT LIMIT should be stated...THEY WOULD NOT HAVE A SPOT FOR IT ON THE CREDIT REPORT...
    ...MORE, WHY WOULD BALANCE TO CREDIT LIMIT RATIO BE PART OF F.I.C.O. SCORING IF THE CREDIT LIMIT WAS NOT IMPORTANT???
    I made a mistake w/ EQ.
    I disputed my Cap1 TL. It was a perfect 10 yr. old TL. PAID/NEVER LATE.
    I disputed that they were not reporting the Credit Limit. Sent copies of my statement which does have the CL and asked them to adjust. Now it's gone.
    I DID THE SAME THING WITH AMEX BLUE (EXPERIAN)~~~change CREDIT LIMIT~~N/A to $15,500...POOF GONE!!!
    The Capital One credit limit = high balance is confusing, and here's why. I have an official credit limit of $2500 and I have paperwork from them that substantiates this. If I charge MORE than $2500 in any given month, I am penalized something like $20 for doing so, but that new figure (let's say $2,567) would become my high balance for the month, but it is in excess of my actual credit limit. If my high balance DOES = my credit limit, then I shouldn't be charged a penalty for charging more than that.
    Glad you spoke up Geo.
    I'm hearing that since the CAp1 account is reported automatically every month, on tape, that the TL will re-appear when they re-report, about Nov. 26th.
    Or do you think they "masked" the acct. so that it won't ever show up again?
    If they did this, I will be suing them to get the TL reinserted. As far as I know there haven't been any lawsuits of this nature before. I'll go on the basis of "incomplete" reporting.
    I'm hoping tho, that I can get Cap1 to re-report manually next week. I've been able to work with them pretty well in the past.
    Your advice?
    ???
    AMEX BLUE has been GONE for about a year!!!
    AMEX kept on saying it will just show up the next month...IT NEVER HAS!!! Probably EXPERIAN did a "HARD" delete...
    Thanx Geo.
    Did you contact Exp. to try and get it re-inserted?
    That tells me what I need to do. I need this tl.
    CapOne, Low credit limits, and increases, don't report limit's to CRA's, 12 month intervals in between increases. WHAT A CARD!!!
    They sure don't have any problems deleting the good tl's. Wish they were as quick to delete the negative ones!
