Has anyone applied for the Best Buy Card (and checked the Household Card box application, too) and been rejected for the Best Buy but still received the Household card? Whew...did that make sense??
Hey Nana Si. Yep. That is exactly what happened to me. I was denied for the Best Buy due to "too short credit history". A couple weeks later I got a gold HH mastercard with no annual fee, a 3500 limit. So now when I go to Best Buy I pay with my Target Visa. They ask if I'd like to apply for a Best Buy card. I tell them "no thanks, I like my TARGET VISA just fine".
Can you apply for this online and get an instant decision? What kind of CL's can you get with Best Buy? My Exp score is 779. I need a new stereo.

Instant decision at www.bestbuy.com. Butch, you are a shoe in, I figure...what's you EQ, though? LKH: heheheheheh, NanaSi! Target Visa just said "no" to hubby. Re: Best Buy Card & Household Card? I got a best buy card with something like a 669 for $1500. I never checked the box but they sent me a $700 mastercard with a nice $69 fee and it sucks. I am sticking with my goldpoints card.
Butch, you'll have no prob. Got approved for Best Buy $2600 with a EQ 704. Household bank almost exclusively uses EQ. I walked in and did the Labor-day 0% interest until 2004. Got the HH M/C with a lousy $1250. I recommend the online application as the best buy clerk fat fingered my application with a wrong address which led me to a 2 month nightmare of "lost credit cards" listed on my report and waiting for two months to get new ones. Household hasn't been as helpful as they could have been. If you don't mind waiting a little while, I'm sure they will have some special 'apply for credit and get 0% financing...' offer soon.
Yes, when i talked to the clerks about "financing" a flat-screen HDTV, they "told" me to wait until end of NOV. as they will change their 0% to 24 months on purchases $250 or above. It seems to be common knowledge when those new 0% financing deals take place.
I got a Best Buy approval for $2500 about 1 year ago. I don't remember a box for Household and I never got one so If there was one I must not have checked it. Anyway... I just received a Household preapproved ap in the mail. I tried to get on the web site they gave to accept, but apparantly it doesn't exist. Oh well.
I finally got to the web site and was approved for a card. It didn't give me my CL though. I will receive the card in 2-3 weeks.
Re: Best Buy Card & Household Card? Well that's a problem tho. My EQ score is about 780. The problem is they "swept" my report because I disputed some info. I HAVE NO TL's ON EQ! It looks like I just dropped onto planet earth yesterday with NO credit file. Just ONE very old TL that was closed in 95. PAID/NVR LATE. (Don't worry they'll get their's) Maybe I should consider Circuit City.
Re: Best Buy Card & Household Card? How in heck did it get to 780, then? My youngest has perfect credit but only 3 lines..and her's is in the mid 6's. How did they sweep yours and leave it so high? How about that! I'm jealous!
