I can't believe it- my hubby just had a bounced check added to his credit report. The check bounced 5/2002 and I paid it 6/2002. WHATS UP WITH THAT? He paid the freakin check 5 months ago and they just now decided to post it as a paid collection. PLEASE, any strategical advice on this is appreciated. I'm ticked!!
OK-- I'm going to bump this up before it gets dumped along with "that other thread"... lol. Someone out there has to have dealt with checkrite? Please? Pretty Please?
George- yes I will dispute it during CHOD as not mine. I just can't believe that they would report a PAID check... I can see putting it in chexsystem or whatever-- But on a credit report-- what good does that do! Not to mention the collection was for 10 bucks-- 10 freakin bucks!
Newbie thinking out loud here...did you receive your original check back once you paid for it? Maybe you could send a validation letter - no check - no way to validate?
unfortunately, he did not get the check back after payment. The thing is, I PAID IT out of MY ACCOUNT, so I am thinking that they can't try and say that HE confirmed the debt by paying it. I don't know-- still ticked about this.
There's your problem. He should have made them return the check. I would send validation letter and cross my fingers that they can't get that check.

He paid the freakin check 5 months ago and they just now decided to post it as a paid collection. kit ================= How long after the fact can something be reported? If you paid the check how could it be a collection paid or unpaid.?
I would send validation letter and cross my fingers that they can't get that check. I'd rather be at the beach ---------------------------------------------------------------- AS long as they have the check they can collect over and over again on it.
Did you pay just the check amount or the check amount + service charges? That could be it. They might have added a service charge that you didn't pay. Charlie
