I have been absent a couple of days.... licking my wounds. There were rumors at work that layoffs would occur in Jan. Well a couple days ago, they started pulling employees in 1 by 1 and laying of the selected few. At 4:30 pm, I got my call. :-( It could have been worse. I am on "administrative leave" unti Jan and then will get a 10 week severence check on Jan 9. In March, I will still get my bonus. I am a mainframe developer. Pray for me. I don't want to uproot the kids again. My oldest is a senior in HS.
My prayers are with you, and I wish you luck. You never know, something 'better' is out there. Good luck!!!!
Scmom, Saying a prayer for your family. Keep your head up. I firmly believe everything happens for a reason. Possibly something better is out there for you!! Think positive.
I'm sorry to hear that Mom. My prayers & thoughts are with you. I'm sure that it will all work out for you and your family. God Bless. Manny
i truly believe that as 1 door is closed, another is beginning to open. you have a window of opportunity. Take advantage of this and look for your true calling!! Best of luck!
regardless of what anyone tells you, get registered to collect your unemployment. You can't collect unemployment while you are still on the payroll, so make sure you are not considered on the "payroll" if you are on admin leave. I received a severance package 4 months ago and was allowed by law to collect unemployment as well. Its the only thing that kept my head above water for 4 months. Just be glad and pray that you receive your severance. Many people were not as lucky when they were laid off.......... Also, as much as I said I would NEVER allow myself to fall to "Food Stamp" status, I finally gave in when my severance ran out, as my 3 kids were more important than my pride!. You can receive foodstamps if you have no job (even with a severance and collecting unemployment) and less than $3,000 in the bank. Check the laws in your state. Good Luck, I was there 4 months ago and ended up taking a $28,000 pay cut.
My prayers are with you and your family. I hope you can find something soon. I am sorry for your job loss.
SC, My prayers go out to you and your family ... I know something will come your way very soon, so be patient, enjoy the holidays. Also, check most of the employment job sites and post your resume. That may help. Check out: www.monster.com www.hotjobs.com www.computerjobs.com www.headhunter.com www.techiegold.com UNLV34 EQ 446 EX 559 TU 418
