TU File Numbers....

Should I be concerned that my TU file number has changed over the past few months. It was the same all along until I pulled a report online a month ago.

Since that time, the file number has changed to a new one on all copies (the data is exactly the same as it was before).

Has anyone else noticed file number changes at TU?

I do not use Trans Union to "regularly" view my reports, but from my experience with the others, the report number changes and you should not be worried. The report number (or confirmation numbers) are used internally by the CRA's for varying reasons. Some to return to the same report you are viewing, some to indicate which report to match your disputes to. And I am sure for more reasons than we know (wink wink)

Just pay careful attention to the information within the report and make sure everything good stays and nothing bad appears.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure because I always get a different confirmation/report number for EQ and EX, but my TU file number has remained the same for the past 3 years up until last month. I'm just worried that they are creating multiple files on me somehow!

my file # was different between a online copy and the hard copy they send in the mail. If all else fails call them and double check that you are not split.

Regarding the TU File Numbers, I retrieved copies of both mine and my fiance's CRs online from transunion to work on CHOD disputes (using the "denied credit" reason), and the file numbers for our CRs are the same.

I used the file numbers on our dispute letters, so I hope it doesn't cause a conflict. It's just kind of weird.

    Anyone else experience this??

Same deal. Pulled dozens for my GF and myself and all have the same file number which I'm afraid may match your numbers too.

This could be there way of tracking files pulled online via the "Denied credit" option. Who knows?
