    Mr. XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I regret that you are upset about your recent visit to our store.

However, the store employee did follow our procedure for non-cash
transactions that was established to protect our customers and their
financial well being. This procedure has substantially reduced fraudulent
transactions which lead to an enormous amount of inconvenience and expense
    for victims.

A municipality is considering implementing this procedure through out its
city because of the positive results experienced by creditors and business
    establishments.

Please feel free to contact me with any other concerns or questions.

    Sincerely,

    Dan Taylor
    Vice President of Field Credit

THERE IS NO POINT AT WHICH A CREDIT CARD COMPANY WANTS A BUSINESS TO DO FRAUD INVESTIGATION...THE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES HAVE A SECURITY/FRAUD DIVISION!!!

Card is AUTHORIZED with a number...signature is compared with signature on card...or with drivers license on unsigned cards...STORE GETS PAID END OF STORY!!!

What is the answer from VISA/MC???

IN MY OPINION~~they really SHOULD lose their charge privileges!!!

...AND WHERE DO THEY STORE THESE FINGERPRINTS???

...AND WHO DECIDES IF SOMETHING IS FRAUD???

...DOES THE STORE DECIDE TO TURN IT OVER TO THE F.B.I. or THE CITY POLICE IF SOMEBODY "FORGOT" THEY MADE A CHARGE AT THAT STORE???

I still want to know what the CITY POLICE~FBI~VISA~M/C~AMEX~DISCOVER~AG would have to say about the deal...

Oh I did not know you were complaining because the employee failed to follow
    store policy.
I thought your issue was the procedure itself?

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean the're not out to get you.

Mail him a copy of his letter back and ask him to put HIS fingerprint next to his signature. That shouldn't be a problem, should it??

LB59~~Georgiaboy DISAGREED WITH THEIR POLICY!!! (Took the business to another store)

ANYBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND SHOULD DISAGREE WITH FINGER-PRINTING A CREDIT CARD TRANSACTION!!!

A check "MAY" be a grey area...ALTHOUGH I WOULD NEVER AGREE TO DO IT!!!

I HAD A BIG HISSY AT THE DMV ABOUT A FINGERPRINT~~WHY I EVER GIVE ANY BUSINESS MY FINGERPRINT!!!

My last remark was a little flippant and didn't really suggest a course of action.

Try this. Send a copy of the letter that you sent to the store and the letter you received from them to Visa (or whoever the card is from). I'm certain they will weigh in on this with the store.

Mr Taylor will be contacted by me, I have several questions for him.
His anwer to the complaint seemed vague to me, and did not address the complaint IMO.
Id like to know what municipality is going to start finger printing all who do CC and Check transactions, Im quite sure the general public in this city would like to know.
I also would like to know the safeguards they are imposing to protect these fingerprints.
Who will be storing this personal data, etc.
Id also like to know if hes willing to send me his DOB, DL# Checking Account #, Visa, MC account numbers , fingerprints etc. Because at the moment, he actually knows more about me, than I did his employees, so there should be no problem to supplying me this information.
If any of you have legit questions you would like for me to ask him pertaining to there policy's, Id love to include them in my correspondance with Mr.Taylor.
I would also appreciate any tech data anyone has on fingerprints and the copying thereof.

    Thanks for yalls support.

Um..., where do you live? I can tell you that I will NEVER give someone my ID information and fingerprints if they are NOT a recognized financial institution without a "need to know" business reason. There is NO merchant that has or needs that "need to know".

Don't they realize that this can give the employees the potential to steal our Identity? What kind of security controls do these businesses have in keeping these records safe? Who monitors these businesses and other establishments?
