I really need some help here. Read and comment if you can. In May of 2000, I moved out of an apartment to move to another city due to a promotion. The apartment complex was given notice. I was in a hurry so I did not turn the keys in or do a walkthrough with the front office. As a result, I was charged with replacing the carpet, not returning keys, etc. I don't have a problem with this. Because I didn't leave a forwarding address, as I did not have one yet, they sent the list of charges to my ex-wife. Needless to say, I did not receive it. I've lived in an apartment in Denver for over 18 months now and I'm trying to move to new complex owned by the same property management group. They tell me I am denied due to eviction. I called my old complex and they stated it was not an eviction that wasr eported but money owed. I ask to settle up but they tell me they cannot except my money because they've turned it over to a collection agency. THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHO THE COLLECTION AGENCY IS!!!!! Now I'm stuck. I have to be out of my current aparment and have no apartment to move into. This seems like an OC issue that I should have some sort of recourse with. Am I right? If so, how do you suggest I hit the former complex. This is BS and I need help.
You knew you owed them the money, right? You didn't pay it, right? What did you expect to happen? You can't blame them for your mistakes. You need to pay them and clear your record before they're going to rent to you again.
Gottago: You're not getting it. They can't tell me who to pay or I would. There are no collections on any of my credit reports.
Buddy you need to get your head out of your arse before macking such dumb comments. It makes you look stupid !
