Airlines to fight terrorism w/ FICO

Every passenger will soon be assigned a "terrorist rating potential" based largely upon his credit report. If your FICO score isn't good enough, that will become one factor that may keep you from being able to board an airplane.

Here is a page of news story links from Google regarding this plan:

    It's outrageous.

Having high interest rates, low credit limits, and gouged rates on auto insurance DOES NOT make you wanna blow stuff up.

Nowhere does it say that the flight profile score will be based on your credit score.

Don't get me wrong, this whole thing stinks, but it doesn't work the way you describe.

The flyer's profile will be based on identifying information found in your credit report... which has nothing to do with the way you pay bills. You could be bankrupt and your flight profile score would be no different than someone who pays their bills, assuming you both have a stable ID history.

Yeah but won't it hurt you a little if the CRA's have your previous address as your current and then your license says one thing, but the CRA's say something else.

The CRA's can't get your report right for buying a home, now we may not be able to fly?

Well, I for one am glad that that single mom over there with a sick kid and a deluge of medical bills won't be sitting next to me on the plane. Visiting your mother, indeed! No tayarah ride for you, sister, go tell it to Greyhound! Come back when you're at least a 680.

    wajaba, feeling safer already...

I hate having my score dinged by inquiries. I won't even get a new cell phone because of the potential damage to my score by the inquiries.

The already drowned in debt airlines will just love it when people stop flying in an effort to keep their FICO's aloft. Let's see if FICO can take down the airline industry. This will be interesting to watch.

I am to understand that basically that our genius gov't is going to check credit reports for ID purposes... anyone here know how hard it is to remove old addresses off credit reports?

And whoop de do about FICO having anything to do with the terrorists. The terrorists that caused the 9//11 destruction I imagine had damn good credit due to them being so well financed.

    Will the stupidity ever cease?

    No.

Many people have more than one address. I have two homes and both addresses show up on my report as my current address from time to time. It's no big deal.

The airlines will be looking for legenth of time that the credit file has existed, as well as matching DOB and ID number.

Like I said, it has nothing to do with your credit habits...yet.

Give it another 10 years. By then, we'll all have one card for ID, credit access, etc. Our Universal ID card will be the only thing we'll need to carry. Of course, it will probably not even be a card...more like an implanted chip.

    Scary.

What about if you are not from the US and have no credit history omn this country?. This is ridiculous!. They can not rank you on this way.

The system is for ID check, not a credit check. They will attempt to verify your ID similar to when Ebay verifies ID.

What is interesting to me is with all of the backlash this is causing it may well lead to a national ID instead and that's what they wanted all along!

The levels of privacy invasion that the government will go to never cease to amaze me. The phony Patriot Act was bad enough, but now this? I can only hope that everyone who is apalled by this will pick up the phone can call their Congress-persons and let them know their JOBS are at stake if this thing goes any further.

If any of you need help finding out who "represents" you in Washington, please let me know!

Ten years?? try the next 6-12 months.
and the sad thing is. . . most people will WANT or at least ACCEPT this type of "national security"!!!!

Well, I agree that they would like to do it in 6-12 months. However, I think the sheer size of the job will take ten years to accomplish.

One day soon, all our cars will have satellite tracking devices in order to be eligible for insurance. We'll all have our own personal chips to track our location, finances and legal status.

Sadly, the best days of the US are behind us.....

That is indeed an interesting leap in thinking.

Look back at 9\11 and count just how many Americans have flown the planes into WTC.

Look at all the other terrorist attacks within the last 2 years and count how many Americans were the baddies there.

So now they will be verifying Americans wanting to fly home for Christmas, but all the foreigners will be exempt from that because they don't have a credit file.

    How smart.

I don't mean to spew hatered here, just making an observation about another half-assed measure that the govt is taking to appear like they are doing something to prevent further terrorist attacks.

That, and of course screening closely 78 yr old Medal of Honor winners and questioning a federal agent who is authorized to carry concealed on the plane about his nail file, after clearning his .45 S&W through security.

Gottago, the best days of the US don't have to be behind us. If people will just start talking about their objections, yelling about them, screaming if necessary, they WILL be heard!

We're all fighting CA's, CRA's or OC's on this board, and many are winning. We can all fight the invasive tactics of the government, too! Remember, its a government OF, FOR and BY the people! Lets flex our political muscles and remind the clowns in Washington and our state capitals the WE are in charge!

    Don't give up gottago... fight.

FICO is quite capable of solving this issue as witnessed by their outstanding track record in the credit industry.
What more could you ask for?
