I am rather new to applying for any loans online. But I applied for an Apple instant loan (mbna is the creditor). When I hit the proceed button I get a reference number and request to call mbna verification department now. I call but it is after office hours (something they didn't program into their online loan system I guess). Is this just call us for official rejection type of deal or what? my credit score is well over 700 with no lates. but i have heard sometimes with quantity if inquiries and such you can still get rejected. Or could this be because I moved a month ago? I noticed there was no space on the online application to put former address. Not sure how it all works, but I didn't want to bother hanging on the phone all morning if they were just going to say tough luck. Has anyone run into a not so instant credit when applying with Apple/mbna? thank you for your interest.
I have a Gateway Loan with MBNA and my scores were sub 700... They did the same to me and just wanted to verify the info on the application and talk to a person... Was approved with no problem...

They asked me for my address, a previous address (I recently moved) plus some general info on two tradelines. That was that. My scores were a lot lower than yours, and I had five inquiries at the time. Happy shopping, wajaba [edit] - This was for an Apple instant loan as well.
I applied for Apple Instant Loan from MBNA and they give me instant approval. They approved me for $5500. By the way, they made two inquiries on my Experian credit report. Ron.
You guys got lucky. I must have found the anal, obsessive CSR. She basically tried to call my work number while I was on hold, despite the fact I listed myself as self employed. I guess I was supposed to run down to my business and answer the phone. She then wanted me to fax utility bills and credit card statement (I dont mind a utility bill, but I am quite gunshy about sending anyone a copy of my credit card statement). On top of this they offered less than half of the loan I requested. So I just took her fax number, but doubt I will bother. Too much a pain in the rear. I just didn't want to ram up my credit card balance higher than the amount it was at. I know I just moved and all, but seems kind of funny how she didn't ask for things like ID or such. Go figure. thanks to those who replied.
the computers use semi intelligence to detect out of norm activity. Things like misspelt addresses on apps not matching report 100%, phone number reverse 411 databases. Address matching (home, rental, business). These things along with simple bounce-out (like airlines) help deter fraud. You may have just been the one picked out of the line to be inspected. It's understandable, internet fraud is rampant, and mbna doesn't play. I've had them call me at work TWICE to verify information on an application. If there wasn't any fraud, it would be alot smoother for everyone..
MBNA is one touch cooke..it's like getting, well..u know. My sister co signed with me to get an apple loan and before we got the approval number the phone went out. She was at work and I was at home so we were on 3 way. So I called back and tried to get the approval number he wouldn't give it to me unless they spoke with my sister. Long story short..it took 3 days to get everything straighten out. I guess the red tape is ok if it deters fraud,. But i'm happy me my new powerbook
