I hear ya. I was denied a couple of months ago. My wife and I get pre-approvals from Discover at least once a week. So we decided to apply jointly. Her scores are 720's mine high 600's. I had a paid collection on my EX report that shouldn't have been there. They denied us because of one 7 year old paid collection account. I had the collection deleted one week lated and asked for reconsideration. They of course said no again. Discover bites (in my opinion).

wow.. over a year's worth of correspondence to remove an inquiry? he could have "bumped" it in a few months lol

I had the same problem with chase.. I sent letters, they replied claiming they had the right to pull more than one hard inquiry on my TU report because blah blah blah. I decided to let it go when I believed I probably wouldnt get anywhere anytime soon. Thanks to WK, all those hards I was going to keep fighting for are now gone after about 3 months.

Then again, I most likely would have continued fighting them if I didn't know about WK (those hards really did lower my score).

Discovercard has the most senseless approach to credit approval I've ever observed. And they are quite rude when defending it.

After my third inexplicable denial, I put them on my blacklist, and I've never looked back.

I know for sure I won't be applying.. definitely not worth it. Besides, it's not even as widely accepted as other cards

What is it with Discover? We never had that card, and now I am reading horror stories about it on here.

Do they offer any special perks that one would want to waste a hard inq on?

I have Discover, 10,000.00CL I've used it anywhere a Visa or MC would be used.

They pulled EQ, my fico was I believe 711 at the time.

    No problems yet.

If I were you, I would write the CEO of the company. Period. I don't mess around with low level customer service reps. I had applied for Fleet card after cleaning up my report. I was authorized user on several of my wife's cards. They rejected me due to lack of my own credit history. I wrote the CEO telling him that if Fleet should take a chance on me and issue me a card and see. I got a call from a VP at Fleet assuring me that the card will be issued.

Writing CEO always works for me. Be polite but firm and write.
