    Hello All,
Can towing charges be treated as credit ?and if you don't pay, report to the credit agency unpaid credit?..

A tow company towed my car without me knowing, per police dept for expired tags, (few months)..and now they want to charges me $1,350.00 because I refuse to pay, they have it reported 2x on my credit report.

Is this legal?.. I don't think I should pay, never was notified by police department, car in front of my drive way.

Any suggestion as to how I can have this removed from my credit report?..

    Any help Please!...

Is it being reported as a credit card?

"I've never had a credit card with ABC towing".
Yes, they probably can report it as a collection.

You would need to check your city ordinances to see if the police department had to notify you, and what the proper procedure is. I'm not 100% sure, but by "in front of the driveway", you mean the street, that is probably public property.

I would also probably start with a validation letter.

    Thank U Jlyn,

I just spoke with the city clerk, and she suggested that I file a complaint she would not say too much, only that I need to file a complaint against the police department for damages.

so I am awaiting the form now!.

    Thanks again for your information.
