Nightlifer, could you please post what CRA they pulled on you and what your score was at the time?

They pulled a soft on EXP (678) and then a hard on EFX (695).

Well, I feel like a hundred bucks! Four hundred, to be exact. It was a no-go on a credit line increase for my new Household card. Called and asked twice. The first time, I (in my best plaintively concerned Wise Consumer voice) said that I recieved my new card, happy to come on board with Household, blah blah blah, noticed the small limit, yadda yadda, would like to replace other cards but can't with this [shitty] limit, bladdy blah, may decide not to activate this card. To which the first rep responded, in so many words, "Whatever, beeyatch."

The second rep was a little nicer and more informative (she called me Mr. beeyatch), and said that all such decisions come from The Screen. As in: The screen lets us know when you're eligible for an increase, if I could change your limit, it would say so on the screen, let me try looking in another screen, nope that screen didn't work either. Screen screen screen.

So that's that, for now. Sorry for the long post.

Sorry to hear that. I found this number for the Retention Department at Household: 800-597-1122. Try calling them directly?

Another idea: if turned down by a rep, as to speak to their supervisor. This has helped me with a different bank in the past.

You know after reading all the posts on here for the last year, I have been working on clearing up my debt (2 more immediate things to pay for) I also got an offer from Household and I checked out my scores first and applied, and sure enough I got approved. Wow! My first card in 6 years (always been turned down for everything)!!! The CL is $300 which is fine for me, I don't plan on using for awhile. I have no idea what to use it on hehe I am so used to paying for everything right away, I don't like to owe money. LOL.

I love your name!! Good for you!! Since you are used to paying cash....what I would do is use it for something like gas that you are going to buy anyway, then deduct it from your checking account. When you get the bill, use that money to pay it in full. Good luck!

So if you apply for a card and you get it but don't like the terms, you have to keep it on you CR's.

Can't you just say you don't want it and have them remove it. You should have a right to return it under TILA and/or FCBA, ... there should be some cooling off period. I would figure you could cancel it due to some technicality!!!!

YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACCEPT IT...but it stays on your credit report...

You can DISPUTE it with the CRA'S (every so often) till it is gone..."NOT MINE" or "DID NOT ACCEPT THE ACCOUNT PLEASE REMOVE"

DH just got a HH card. He needed active accounts that report. Anyway we got the mailer, and I ignored it...then they called.

Jlynn coached him thru it. I do not want this card if it is a $300 limit. You DO NOT have permission to pull my report to offer that CL. I want to use the card for business travel, and for $300 I can't even buy a plane ticket! blah blah.

Went round and round for 20 minutes. He got 1000 CL, score was 582 the only pulled Hard on EX.

Did you activate it? I didn't activate the toy card they sent me and so FAR it has not shown up on my cr's.

I have had cards show up on my credit report(s) BEFORE I even got the card in the mail...

SO if they are going to report...IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "ACTIVATION"

My first payment posted to my account, and they haven't started reporting yet. Speaking of posting payments, they're fast. And no, I'm not being sarcastic, for once. I mailed my payment to their Baltimore processing center, and I got an email confirming the posting of the payment two days later.

That is what I was trying to tell myself, use it to buy gas or something. It is so hard for me to do that lol. I did finally use it for something but the charge has not shown up yet. Makes me a little nervous that it is has not shown up yet, concerned it might be declined or something. I am so used to online banking, and it shows or is deducted right away. I know that I have learned my lesson about credit and such, I feel uncomfortable about having a card (don't feel I will go on a shopping spree just has been so long since I had one) but I need to have a few more positves on my report. Some of my older positives are starting to fall off now. I am almost done paying off my immediate debts except for student loans, those can wait until I finish school.
I will call Household in by the end of the year or in 6-8 months to see if I can get an increase ya know holiday season.
Thanks for the compliment, I have been turning over a NewLeaf.
    :)

Does anybody have anything to share with the rest of us, now that you have had your card for a few months?
