I hope this doesn't come off sounding too terribly stupid.

I have a ATT Universal card with a $9700 balance. I am never going to be able to pay it off. I have heard that you can call the cc company and ask them to make a revolving loc into an installment loan in order to pay it off.

I have also heard you can threaten bankruptcy and they will help you out in some way, shape or form. I don't want my credit to be ruined by not paying this, but again, I will never get it paid off. I am BARELY making the minimum payment, I have lost my job and had a child all in the past year. I am single now, with a child, no job, and lots of debt.

I am at a loss. Any help or suggestions would be very greatly appreciated. I really don't want to keep paying the minimum payment because it is like pissing my money in the wind (pardon the expression).

    Thanks,

    Toni

Are you at 3% or 2% min? If you think you're financial situation will change shortly then you could drop the minimum.....I'm worried if you call and do this they'll close the account with the balance to pay offf in installments which is a negative, but better then letting it go....you can call and at least ask them your options....do you have insurance on the account, you're pregnancy would count as a disability....sad but true, I'm sorry, I know it's rough and I hope they help you some way, there should be alot more support for single moms....I'm a new mom too....and single, so believe me, I understand...
