I can't believe that............I just can't believe they do that to GOOD accounts.........this is just over whelming me right now......I've been so good, I have the available credit to bt at the same rate, I'm worried they knock me again and then my utilization is even more screwed....I just can't believe this is how they are thanking me........unbelievable...and depressing

I don't know if you know or not, but Bank One (First USA) canceled all of GEORGE's (and I think Mrs. GEORGE's) accounts because they claimed they had "too much available credit."

I'm afraid this is the next thing we have to fight. Are they all going to start doing this?

some creditors are fearful of consumers that have too much credit available.

or when the debt ratio hovers around a certain percentage of the credit line.

the fear is that a consumer may just go nuts and max out every line of credit they have then file BK

so they attempt to lower the risk by decreasing your CL to minimize the potential damage.

if you have alot of open credit you may want to consider closing a few lines to help your situation and fico :)

So you're a risk if you have credit and you don't use it. And you're a risk if you have credit and you use it. Some creditors are not suitable financial partners.

VERY well said...............isn't this ridiculous...and I just had it raised to 10k back in Feb......which cost me an inquiry and seriously, $500 decrease?? That's such an insignificant amount to piss off such a good customer.....at least in my eyes....if they don't rectify via plantfeedback, then I'll BT and sock drawer the card..........I do have a few store cards but the limits are $500...if I use them I pay them immediately..........for instance....GAP has great incentives for using the card...so I'll charge on the first Tuesday if I need to to get an extra discount but I never carry a balance on ANY store card...unless it's something like Best Buy where they give 0% on certain items at times.........

I don't think this is why they do it.

They know this lowers peoples scores so they do it with the intent and purpose of trashing their credit so they can use the lowered scores as an excuse to jack folks rates.

Sorry I can't agree with this.

Guess it's cause I'm just not very good at making excuses for them.
