Hey guys, just a quick survey question for everyone here. I'm trying to figure out whats the highest balance that everyone here has defaulted on for an individual credit card, and what happened with collection activity. I'm 120 days past due on an amex GREEN, with a balance of $17K, and it has already been sent to the CAs. anyone here care to share their experiences?
pay in full on time. I had about $60K in charges over the course of the last year...all paid in full. just curious...but how did u handle your situation with 11K at citibank?
BJ might not be able to help you in this case....they are going to look at your charge history leading up to the time you file. They might see that 17k as suspicious, like you did it know you were going to file. (NOT accusing you of anything, just letting you know what could happen). If you don't mind me asking, where did that 17k go? That's a LOT of money. Was it in just one month, or did you do it over two? Was it merchandise you can sell to get money and pay it back? I am just afraid that for 17k they are going to skip the CA's and just send out the mob to break your kneecaps (just teasing..) Shawn
Re: Lizard...question??? Lizard I have a question for you. I just settled my hubbys cc for half the amount he owed it was only 620 ( so I paid 310) however stupid me didnt get it in writing. Now they are saying he owes the other half, I paid this is Aug. is there anything I can say to the CB about trying to have it removed? They also have a collection agency coming after him for the FULL amount. I know its really not a lot its just the principle. Kellie
Re: Lizard...question??? I paid a settlement of half to the creditor and they now want the other half, the collection agency wants the FULL amount (even the half I already paid) Kellie
Re: Lizard...question??? Do you have anything in writing from the original creditor showing the agreed to settlement amount? It sounds to me like the creditor cut the collector out. My suggestion is: 1) file a complaint with your state banking dep't against the collection agency and the creditor. 2) If you have something in writing from the original creditor I would make a copy and send it to the collector along with a cease and desist letter. 3) I would then write aletter to the original creditor advising them the collector they hired is harassing you over a debt you paid as agreed. Tell them they can be liable under law for any violations made by the collector on their behalf and you will enforce your rights. 4) File an online complaint with the FTC
Re: Lizard...question??? To bad there aren't 10 other CAs trying to collect on it too. Thay way you would get to pay it ten more times! L O L
