I disputed some inquiries on Credit Expert today. For the record, I disputed 4 Hard ones and 2 Soft ones. We'll see what happens in the next 30 days. If all of these come off, I will have only 3 Hard inquiries in the last 2 years on Experian. WooHoo! Some have wondered how long it takes for an onine investigation, and Thought I'd start a thread to see just how long it REALLY takes.
A soft inquiry should be an account review with a company that you currently have credit. These can be done with or without your permission. Many times if you ask for a credit increase or lower rates, the company will pull your credit file to check status. According to publishing information, these types on inquiries only show up on reports issued by the credit reporting agencies to you, the individual and should not effect your FICO credit scores. A hard inquiry is done when applying for new credit with a company. It's usually the first time the company sees your credit file. These types of inquiries are listed on all reports published and therefore see by everyone with access to your file. Many companies will deny credit based solely on too many recent (hard) inquiries. These type of records do lower your FICO credit scores. Hope this helps!
My point in disputing one of them, is it is a soft inquiry from a collection agency with the word "credit" in it. If soft inquiries do not show on lenders reports, no harm done, right? If they do, then that reference is not on there.
