Here's my situation, my Bankruptcy CH7 Was discharged Sept this year, I've already gotten all the 3 credit reports to show all the chargeoffs included in chapter 7, and I disputed a few too. I got the Chapter 7 off Experian, but all the accounts say incl in chapter 7. Where do I start to rebuild my credit, my scores are: Equifax: 520 Experian :522 TU: 508 What can I do? I have the following post BK7 American Express GOLD (AU) Capital One Gold Visa $1200 Capital One Gold MC $800 FCNB UNSECURED (they sent me an offer during BK)$300.00 Orchard Bank Unsecured $300.00 Bloomingdales (survived BK7) $700 Sterling Bank $750 (got last year) Amoco MultiCard $200.00 Shell Gasoline $400 Now I know some of you will say this is pretty good post bk, but I just bought a car, and the finance rate was ridiculous, a 2002 Mazda Truck at 18.9% APR How long do you figure it will take to get a refi offer, a year..two? What can I do now to raise my scores? Any and all help appreciated.
Did you get the Amoco after the bk? you are doing a good job. what are your balances? they seem to really affect scores. Keep them all below 20% and you'll do well.. also, you may want to try disputing your derogs and see if you can get some to drop off. that'll help your score.
Thanks for the encouragement. Actually, I got a pre-approval for Amoco, and Shell within a week apart, I said what the hell, and sent them off, lo and behold the next week I got the cards....The funny thing is, I had an Associates Visa debt discharged in the BK, and Shell and Amoco are issued by a division of Associates. I will keep on disputing, hopefully my score will go up soon. My balances are like 20% away from the limits. Any other suggestions?
I wish I could get off Associates' blacklist. I've been on it 4 years and they won't even pull a credit report when I apply for a gas card. I know my scores are much higher than many who do get it, I just wish I could get another chance even though I know some will say I don't deserve it Steph
Arobinson....can you tell me what you did immediatley after filing the bk?? I am filing today and want to know where to start with the rebuilding process. What is the first step? Get the credit reports?? How long do I wait to do this?? and then when I get it, what am I looking for?? I want to make sure everything says 0 balance and included in bk, right?? Thanks for any help you can give me!! None of my cards will survive the bk because they all have balances and were opened and charged about 3-5 years ago, and closed by the credit grantor, so I will be starting with nothing.
Staces, well what I did is I used the money I saved from not paying any of the creditors to open my Capital One cards, my credit report hadn't shown the BK yet b/c I just filed. I got approved for a cap1 MC for $49.00 deposit for $500 limit, and the same for cap1 Visa. When I got the cards I immediatly complained via PFB on both cards, and Mr. Miller raised the limits to 800 on each, and converted them both to gold, and lowered the APR to 15.7. Keep in mind I did this IMMEDIATLY after I FILED. I charged to near the limit and paid off 2 or 3 times before the meeting of creditors, that way I could be honest at the meeting and say that I had no other debts (I did not list the CAP 1 cards, b/c I got them after I filed) Before I filed, my fiancee' got a pre approval for AMEX gold charge, and she put me on as an AU, I never owed AMEX so they had no problem, she doesnt use the card, it's just for my benefit. The credit bureau originally showed an authorized account, but I disputed and disputed with them saying it was a "joint" account, and they bought it. Whether that helps my FICO or not I don't know, but at least any other creditor will see that I have joint responsibility with such a product after a BK. A few weeks before my meeting of creditors, I got the Pre-Approval for Shell, and Amoco, I got one for Citgo, but threw it away thinking that I would be declined. I signed the slip and they sent the card. I think the way I defeated the blacklist is originally on my Verizon Visa card by Associates, they had the last 4 of my SSN wrong. It took them some time to fix it, but they eventually did, and I think that the datebase was somewhat messed up for awhile. I was approved for a 1st Premier, but I threw away the card, b/c of the ridiculous fees. During my waiting period from the time I filed, to the meeting of the creditors, I disputed the CRA's almost nightly. I got on Experian at least once a week to check the status, I disputed EVERYTHING on the report, I originally had 42 negatives and 19 positives, I got all the negatives to show included in BK7, and alot deleted and/or changed to positive. I got all the inquiry's deleted too. Now my Experian shows 16 Negatives, and 28 Positive trades. TU the same way, I kept on disputing online. While I was waiting for my meeting of creditor, I got a letter from FCNB saying that they wanted to give me a 2nd chance. Keep in mind that I was dischargeing a $1200 visa from them in my BK, but they insisted on issuing a new card, and forgiving the previous debt. All I had to do was tell them when the meeting of creditors was, sign the form, and my card was FedEx'd to me. I got a $300.00 unsecured card from them. I applied online for Orchard Bank, got approved for a 300.00 limit. So here I am now, my scores suck, but I guess that is b/c of the newly opened accounts, and the BK7 so new. I guess only time will help them! Hope this helps.
I disputed all the experian inqs online, they allow you to do that, and on the trans union online, where it asks for account #, i just put inq, and the date. TU removes as well. no luck with equifax though
