Hey Roni. I spoke with my student loan lenders and they said I can only rehab my loans if they were past 270 days "aka" defaulted...the latest mine were was 180 days..How can I approach them about letting me rehab the lates and getting my Credit report entries cleaned up. I have been back on track for about ten months....any suggestions? Thanks S.
Just ask the lender if they will be nice and help you by vol removing the lates. They're right, until a student loan is defaulted, the Higher Education Act provides no protection to rehab. Don't believe me? Read the law....
You are definately right Bkev. I am in a similiar situation (except it's only a 30 day late and I've made on time payments for over 2 years) and EFS services wouldn't do anything about it.
I rehabbed lates. The loan was never reported defaulted on my credit report. I guess my college and the lender didnt know the laws which was to my benefit. Sorry, if I have steered anyone wrong.
Thanks for the good info Roni....it "Did" help. I knew the law, I just was curious about your experience. Thanks again. S.
