    George,

I just read that you were denied for a Cap 1 card and your scores are in the 700s. What was the reason for the decline? Have you tried PFB to reach Mr. Cooke?

CardKid, George likes to kvetch about being denied everything even though he has good FICO scores. ("Kvetch," for the uninitiated, is Yiddish for bellyache, piss, moan, and scratch.) The real reason George is denied for everything is because his credit files indicate that he ALREADY HAS CLOSE TO $100,000 IN AVAILABLE LINES OF CREDIT. :) Lenders typically are quite wary of piling onto an accumulation like that irrespective of ones FICO score.

Oops, sorry, George can speak for himself. Pardon me. :)

    Thanks, Doc.

George, of that 100k available...how much are you using. Just curious.

I have a feeling he doesn't use a lot of it. He puts most of his cards in his sock drawer.

    Just teasing you, George. :)

Ok, I won't comment anymore about his large revolving lines of credit.

Yet a a person with 25% of this amount could be 4 times the risk.

Back in the OLDEN' DAYS...almost $200,000...

I am just totally amazed that 23+ years of PERFECT payment history means NOTHING...and I have NOT EVER BEEN DENIED BECAUSE OF INCOME...

If I had that kind of available credit, I'd buy into a franchise like Krispy Kreme or something. That's really impressive.

    And some pepper too. :)

Actually, I believe George is telling the truth. The guy just loves having lots (and lots) of credit cards. And, by God he's pissed off that they won't give him twice or even three times as many! Go get 'em, George!

    Doc :)

When MBNA gives me $30,000+ and CITIBANK and CAPITAL ONE won't even give me $5,000...something is wrong...

    :(

    George,

If you are a high flyer (i.e. you have high available revolving credit lines) MBNA wants to be at the top of the card pile. They issue more aggressive lines than any other from my experience with working for them in the past. The only other bankcard issuer that comes close would be First USA.

If you have 30k available on an MBNA product and your scores and ratios are great, First USA will try to beat it by a few thousand or match it.

Have you tried First USA yet?
