I faxed a Goodwill letter to my mortgage company for a few 30 day lates. I haven't heard back yet and it's been over a week. I will post when I hear something! Good luck on getting your lates removed. I have had my fingers crossed and am just waiting for a response.

I did Faxed a Goodwill letter to Countrywide Home loans and it work for me. After trying to resolve the 30 days late w/ CS. I finally kept asking for the Person in charge of Credit Desk until I got it. This Goodwill letter only works w/a person of some sort of power.

    Good Luck

    willall,

This is a sample copy of the goodwill I used. The author of the letter was schweb:

    Dear Mr. Lerner:

I have been an MBNA customer since 1995 and during that time, I have enjoyed my experience with MBNA greatly. I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a â??goodwillâ? adjustment to your reporting to the three credit agencies. I have a few late payments on the above referenced accounts that date back to 1998 and 1999. All but 1 of the late payments are 30 day lates. Since that time I have been an exceptional customer paying early every month and have been rewarded by MBNA with ever increasing limits and lower APRs.

Because of my exceptional payment history over the last 3 years, I would like you to consider removing the negative payments from my credit report. At the time of those late payments, I was a full time college student without a job. I say that not to justify why the payments were late, but rather to show that the late payments are not a good indicator of my actual credit worthiness. I hope that MBNA is willing to work with me on erasing these marks from my credit reports.

I have been a very happy customer in the past and hope to continue a long relationship with MBNA. With todayâ??s credit industry so competitive, I know how important it is to maintain good relationships with customers. MBNA has been exceptional in my book so far and I highly recommend it to all my friends and relatives. I hope that you will deeply consider my request and prove once again, why MBNA is heads above the rest. I look forward to your reply.

Now all I did was change the info that applied to me. I do also want to add that I got a letter today from GMAC denying my request.

You can also go to the top of of the first page of threads and click on "unofficial credinet FAQ" and scroll down. There is a link to a few samples of Goodwill letters.
