I've been absorbing all the information. And I think I'm ready to begin but I would really like some advice from some one with more experience than me.

I just got my credit report from TU. It looks like I may be getting confused with my sister in law. Her married name and my maiden name are the same. Her address and phone number are showing on my credit report. How do I get this info removed? Also, my CR is showing a very old PO Box address that I used to use. Is this something I should have removed and how do I do it?

As for derogs on my CR

Everything is pretty old and will fall off by the end of the year. Here are the items I need help with:

    BONDED COLL
    OC Citibank
    Placed for collection
    Acct #TK15214A
    Balance: 6067
    Past due: 2530
    Updated 4/2003 Status: Collection Account
    Placed on 3/2003
(Not sure Citibank was OC. How do I find out what was DOLA?)

    PIN CRED SER
    OC Citibank
    Acct# TK15214
    Placed for collection
    Balance: 5690
    Past Due: 2530
    Updated 8/2002 Collection Acct
    Placed 7/2002
(This appears to be same as previous acct. Can both of them try to collect and report against me?)

    Zale/CBUSA
    Acct closed by credit grantor
    Balance: 1762
    Past Due: 250
Updated 4/2003 Status: Charged off as bad debt
    Opened: 12/1995
    Closed: 12/2001
(I think this may be my sister-in-law, not mine)

    GENESYS
    OC Lakeview Terrace Apartments
    Placed for collection
    Balance: 1415
    Past Due: 809
    Updated: 10/2002 Collection Accoutn
    Placed: 10/1996
(Will this be falling off in 10/2003?)

    BANKAMERICA
    Student Loan
    Balance: 3295
    Past due: 363
    Updated: 10/1996
    Opened: 1991
Status as of 10/1996 120 days past due
(I do have a student loan that got past due but I do not remember Bank America ever owning this acct. Now owned by Nelnet and they are reporting never late. )

    Here comes the fun stuff:
    ARCADIA FIN
    Profit and Loss Writeoff
    Balance: 11610
    Past due: 11610
    Verified date: 8/1997
    Opened 3/1995
Closed 7/1997 Status: Charged off as bad debt

    CAVALRY INVS
    OC Arcadia
    Placed for collection
    Balance: 16294
    Past due: 16294
    Updated: 9/2002
    Opened: 8/1999
    Closed: 2/2002 Collection Account
(This looks like the above account that has already been charged off. Can they do this?)

    CAVALRY INVS
OC Arcadia (different acct number than previous)
    Placed for collection
    Balance: 16228
    Past Due: 16228
    Updated 9/2002
    Opened: 8/1999
    Closed: 02/2002 Status: Collection Account
(This appears to be saem as above account-just different amount. Why would they report the same account twice on my CR with different acct numbers?)

Any constructive suggestions you can give me on these accts will be greatly appreciated. I'm so glad there are knowledgable persons like yourself out there to answer questions for people like me.

    Before you tackle anything

    1. Call the CRAs and have them get rid of the old addresses.

    2. What state are you in? You will need to know the statute of limitations on collection of these debts, before you start stirring the pot.

I live in Texas. The SOL is 4 years.

I am really interested to know if a CA can attempt to collect a debt that has been charged off and report it on my CR. It seems to me that I am being punished twice for the same debt. Also, why are is Cavaly reporting the same account two times on my CR?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

The CA and the OC lots of times will report the same debt. The CRA's claim it's legal. On the OC it should say the debt was sold or transferred.

On your account that's gonna fall off in 03, sometimes if you call the CRA a month before they'll delete it.

On the accounts where it shows the closed date normally that's also the DOLA.

Wouldn't The oc entry have to be deleted when the CA fails to validate?
