A student loan of mine was sent to collections. I contacted the university and paid the remaining balance. About the same time a collector wrote me saying they were collecting on this, the amount including the balance from the OC plus $70 collection fees. I contacted the university, and they informed me they would recall it from the collection agency and I should just ignore them. Unfortunately, the university in question is Tulane which has ceased to exist for the near future (New Orleans). I continue to receive notices from the collection agency saying I now owe them the collection fees (they have updated it to show I paid the balance from the OC). It is not yet showing up on my credit report. What should I do?
