This is just amazing! I've been thru major, major issues with unbelievably stupid mistakes and mixing of files by creditors and CRA's but this one has really topped it all! Hubby and I, with our July payment, have finally paid off our 15yr mortgage on what is now our weekend home. Hundreds of thousands of dollars all paid in the most perfect payment fashion. Never, ever, late....not even 1 day...EVER in 15 years. Last payment was sent in way EARLY, too. I expect a boost to my FICO after the last payment posts the balance down to ZERO, wouldn't you? Well, whoa is me... what do I get instead? A late payment. How do we have a late payment? We have a late payment because we did not pay anything for August. Why didn't we pay anything for August? BECAUSE IT'S PAID IN FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What idiots!!!! FICO dropped almost 50points. 733 to 685 I've really had it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a soundproof room to go scream in! Mist
SEND THEM A CHECK FOR $0.00!!! YOU WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST ONES THAT HAD TO DO THAT!!! Somebody even got a THREAT of COLLECTION AGENCY ASSUMING THE DEBT OF $0.00 AND IT WOULD GO ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT!!! DISPUTE IT!!! PAID IN FULL CAN'T EVER BE LATE!!!
Please, please tell us who holds this mortgage so we don't ever do business with them. Incredible! Now you will probably have to fight to get it off.
It's Chase Manhattan Mortgage for those who want to know. I have already submitted my dispute (thank goodness I had CreditWatch!) with Equifax, will keep an eye on EX and TU, and will definitely be calling Chase in the morn. The notification from EQ indicates that earlier today they reported it as ... never late, pays as agreed, zero balance, date reported 8/2002 but somehow, by this evening it was... late 31-60days R2 rating, zero balance date last reported 8/2002. Paid off date was with our July 1st payment. Chase never reported it as paid off in July and I kept checking and waiting for that magical day when finally it would show as ZERO balance. Boy did I get kicked in the teeth!
What's the deal with Equifax? I disputed this online on 9/1. Just pulled another report thru my CreditWatch subscription and expected to see the notation that the account was in dispute. Well, it doesn't say that. It used to immediately indicate that consumer disputes. I don't know whether I have to do it again or not. I did get a confirmation number for the dispute when I submitted it so I assumed that it 'took.'
