I just checked my CR and one of the RA have my score at 0 yes 0 about 6 mo ago it was around 530-560 and all of a sudden BOOM nothing. The report says something about no activity good or bad in the last 6 mo. I am not sure where to start now that I am a big fat 0 any suggestions? Also in the score area it says "Your score represents a for most creditors/lenders" waht does this mean it sounds incomplete to me. Wow I am at a loss for words right now it looks like I have a long long road ahead. Any ideas on how I can get my score up I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? This score came from credit expert which show the experian credit report. I still am in hock that it is at 0 I thought it would be low but not the bottom of the sea!
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? A zero score isn't exactly the bottom of the sea. It just means there are not enough factors in your report to formulate a score. How many negative / positive accounts do you have? And do you have any activity in the past 6 months at all?
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? EQUIFAX is the only F.I.C.O. score... Did you try www.worthknowing.com (TRANS UNION) FREE 1-100 you should still get a 5 or better!!!
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? I looked and I can see NO activity at all for the past six months. Most of the bad is old and the same goes for the good. when I got my credit messed up I just never went for credit card again so that is why most of the account info is old I do have a couple of recent accounts that are bad by recent I mean two years old! Any help on how to get back on track? Should I get a secured card and try to build my score back up. I have a couple of "bad" items that I have disputed but I wont know the outcome of that for atleast 30 days. I would like to know how I can improve this score since even if ALL the bad fell off I still would have no recent good on there? suggestions
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? With a zero score, it's kind of like applying for a credit card with "no credit". I mean, you have credit, it's just so old that the bureaus cannot formulate a score from it, and alot of credit companies use scores when approving, especially for online instant approvals. Do you have a good relationship with your bank or c/u? If so, you may wish to consult them and see if they're willing to open up a credit card for you. First see if you can go unsecured (with them), otherwise, yes you may just have to start out secured. Try for C1 secured card, their security payment is always low ($49, $99). BofA has a good secured card (I believe) as well, you may want to do a search on that.
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? Thanks so much so it looks like the best way to go is to get a secured card? I thought that might be the best way to get started again. I am looking to get this thing back on track and when I viewed that big fat 0 I almost fell of the chair any more suggestions give me all you got I need as much info on how to raise my score (even if it takes sometime) Thanks and I hope for some more suggestions
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? Another option, one that I would use in conjunction with getting a secured/credit card would be to take out (if you have the available funds) a secured loan. Just be sure the bank c/u reports the loan, and also be sure it reports as unsecured. It's always good to have a "mix" of credit accounts. Installments do not help as much as revolving (as far as scoring), however a never late installment loan will look good to future potential lenders when applying for a car loan or mortgage.
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? Yeah I have heard that saying about bad credit vs no credit. It looks like I am starting all over. Most of those old aco****s will fall off soon (6mo-1yr) so I will ALMOST have NOTHING on my CR. I have some recent bad (2 yrs ago) with credit card that are hurting me but after that most are old so I just need to get some good on there and get some recent good history going to raise that score then as the bad "fall off" I hope that the good will overtake and I will have decent credit again. It just looks like I am in for a longer road then I had expected since I am really almost starting over from scratch.
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? I found the boa secured card and I am checking that out it looks like that is a pretty good secured card. I know I need to find something so I may go for the boa card.
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? Just remembered something. Before you apply, give them a call tomorrow, or go to a local branch. Make sure they report as unsecured. I seem to remember someone on the board talking about a secured gold visa card that reported as such. You'll definately be wanting a card that reports unsecured. If they don't report unsecured anymore then try elsewhere.
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? So what is the difference if they report "secured" I know that whoever pulls your report will see it as secured but other then that does it effect your score? Or is just having "secured" listed a bad thing on your CR?
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? Well I guess the whole point is I better get something to get my score up. Also when you guys dispute online what portion of the investigation page do you print? The confirmation page that I viewed did NOT have the account info that I was disputing on it? Do you need to print every step of the process so you have the account info and then the "confirmation" page at the end? Thanks again for all your help
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? If you have something called "SCREEN SHOT" just do that...(if you don't...print the final confirmation page that show everything you disputed) If you need to print anything later...you will have it. SAVE IT IN A FOLDER LIKE EQUIFAX~~~TRANS UNION~~~EXPERIAN (one each)
Re: 0 "Score" WTF? When I disputed through credit expert it never showed ANYTHING on the confirmation page such as account or who I was disputing with. It had me go through two or three pages before I reached the confiramtion page. The first page was where I picked why I was disputing then it went to a second page wehre it made me double check or confirm why I was disputing then it took me to the 'confirmation" page that had none of the previous pages info (account OC etc) so I am guessing I would need to print out the first or second page along with the "confiramtion" page. unless I missed a "print" button somewhere that would print out the info?
