If you done it already, call them back a week later and have them refund it. If you are persistent, they are authorized to do it.

After they started charging me $75.00 (was $50.00) I ASKED ABOUT A FREE ONE...they said "WE GET IN TROUBLE FOR DOING THAT NOW--IT IS FORBIDDEN"

    $0.00
    $30.00
    $50.00
    $75.00

After they started charging $30.00 I could ALWAYS get them to do it for FREE if I did it over the phone...LIKE IT WAS A CHECK PROCESSING FEE...

MBNA yesterday offered me a 1.9% balance transfer rate good for 18 months (no kidding) until June 2005. There was no transfer fee.

By the way, I've been their client since 1996 (started with a 500 limit as a college freshman)...

Currently have a Quantum Worldpoints Visa (just got a replacement for my translucent card and it's black... pretty cool but no Amex Centurion), and I have a 25k limit.

Congratulations, GEORGE. I missed this the first time. Been so busy I can't always get on every day.

I'm hoping for something similar with Citi. I'm getting ready to BT it all to BankOne, but it's my United card, so I'm hoping then Citi will offer something similar and I can get it back on Citi and start getting miles again. I still have my US Airways for miles.

I got 3 checks from them yesterday, 0% to August 2005 for whatever I use them on. There is a 3% fee $40 max.

I am not sure what to do with them.

I have never gotten offers like this before.
This is my first time out of sub-prime land.

Smart money says write the checks to yourself and put them in a cd until August 2005,then pay them off make a little free money.

But knowing what I know now, my scores would take a dump if I maxed out the card.

What about writing the check to myself for my current balance, and turn my 14.9% balance (about 4k) in to 0%? Will this work, can you do a BT to yourself?

Look at the terms carefully. I had one that said it had to be made out to a credit card company. Others let you make it out to yourself.

I did that several times. I couldn't transfer to another Citi card, so I had the check sent to me, put it in my account, and then the next month paid off the other Citi card.

So I make the check out to myself for 4k and deposit in my checking account.

Make a 4k electronic payment to MBNA.

14.9% balance is now at 0.

Check shows up at MBNA and the new 4k post to my CC at 0%?

    Is it really that simple?

dude mbna will drop your cash into your checking account at the same rates, its always been policy.

If you've signed up for billpay or not you can just tell them i want my $10K in my checking XXXX at the promo rate. Done it several times, much easier to do that than BT, and you get the money quite fast then you can spread it among your debts rather than overpay this, etc.

they have always given me the luxury. And i use it.

Lets say i want to pay off my car note, its rather hard to get the loan # and all that jazz to them, when i can dump $$ into my account which the bank holds the note, do an online transfer, and bam car paid off in full (thinking bout it).

I just did that to. Very seamless and pretty cool. 1.7% for 6 months.
