Ok, just thiught I'd share this.. I actually had $1 go into collection for AT&T wireless a while ago. I discovered this only by pulling my CR. would you believe that when I sent them them a letter explaining that this was obviosuly some sort of oversight on someones behalf and that it should not be on my CR, well all they did was list it as a paid collection! I'm going to dispute again, as at least when it was open a creditor could see it was only for $1!! But I can't believe how flippant all these people are in regards to our CR's...
Man, that's a first. Imagine if it goes to court.. how ticked would the judge be to have a $1 collection in his court?
LET IT GO TO COURT!!! They will probably be fined $1,000 FOR CONTEMPT OF COURT!!! Ask for $1,000 for your trouble...
I had a customer once who had a $1 collection on their credit report. He applied for a Home Equity Line of Credit at Washington Mutual - and he was turned down! For $1! It's pretty annoying what that can do to you. BTW, he applied with me at Wells Fargo and the $1 collection wasn't even an issue in his credit approval.
try ATT Wireless for $0.23! no notification, nothing! and the most they did was mark it paid charge-off. we've been battling this for a while--one csr said he'd take it off and when it never happened (before i knew what i was doing) they said he had no authority to say that. they later came back and said that it was really collected/charged-off prior to my final payment (and i can't find paperwork to prove that's not true, grrr!) and that the 23 cents was fees that accrued after?! they stink! wow! and I thought I was a fluke! seems they may have some serious problems with their internal systems. I wonder just how many people they screwed...
I got TICKED OFF at DISCOVERCARD...so I fixed it so the statement balance was -$0.02 THEY KEPT IT!!! For $1.00 you would think they would WRITE IT OFF (EAT IT)!!! They probably spent MORE than $1.00 having it reported!!!
