1*One more thing t_sims224 you said: All that is needed is just be fair to all people and if you don't agree with them then leave them the hell alone."

2*This is one of the stupidest comments I have ever read.

3*Hitler and he took over half of Europe.
4*we didn't agree with that, should we have just let him do that?

[* You reminded me of when I was a kid at Home.
My dad had an older brother who lived next door to us for many many years.
My uncle never owned a car or learned to drive in his life time and was always asking dad for a ride someplace. On the way to wherever they were going my uncle would go on about the evils of the automobile. This would really piss my old man off and I don't blame him one bit.
You are just like my uncle except with you it's the blacks and the Indians.
Just as my uncle irritated dad I find your comments offensive.

If he felt this way about automobiles he had no right to the benefits of them.
His actions spoke louder than his words.

like my Uncle your actions of accepting the benefits of this place as you disrespectfully call it is speaking much louder than your words.

    Subject: America Wake Up

Capt. Ouimette is the XO of NAS Pensacola.

This is a copy of Dan Ouimette's speech to Pensacola's Civitan Club on
    February 19th. .
    ********************************* America WAKE UP!

That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a
religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency.
The attack on this sovereign US embassy set the stage for the events to follow for the next 23 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Viet Nam experience
and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism. America's military had been
decimated and downsized / right sized since the end of the Viet Nam
war. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.

Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnaped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued. In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut. When it explodes,
it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more. Then just six short months later a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut. 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more. Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait, and America continues her slumber. The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gates of the US Embassy in Beirut and America
    slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in
a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid. Then in August a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the Snooze Alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US soil is continually attacked. Fifty-nine days later a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched
as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and
executed. The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259. America wants to treat these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial.
These are acts of war...the Wake Up alarm is louder and louder.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America. In January 1993,
two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex
in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women. A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500.

The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America
does not respond decisively. They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. These attacks were planned with precision, they kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12
October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors.
Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to
investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America. How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep.

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high
official in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew.
You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979. The President is right on when he says we are engaged in a war. I think we have been in a war for the past 23 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough.

America has to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has
    changed forever.
We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure
our way of life continues. We cannot afford to hit the Snooze Button again and roll over and go back to sleep. We have to make the terrorists know that in the words of Admiral Yamamoto after the attack on Pearl Harbor "that all they have done is to awaken a sleeping giant."

    Thank you very much.

The Creditnet Terms of Service states:

...[disallows] any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable

For that reason, I have edited the TOS violation.

It is important to remember that postings of this type are sometimes made "in the heat of the moment" (war would qualify as a generator of such heat) and without intending to violate TOS or the like. I think this difficult period in our collective history should afford each of us an opportunity to give each other the benefit of the doubt.

NYC's Top Cop Slams Peace Protesters

As angry demonstrators clogged streets and shut down highways and bridges in New York, Chicago and San Francisco on Thursday, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said that this generation of antiwar protesters has become particularly vicious.

"There is a hard core group.... who are particularly nasty," Commissioner Kelly told WOR Radio's Bob Grant. "I've noticed this and I've been around a long time.

1*It's kind of like the Vietnam war protests."

Kelly complained that the anti-Iraq war protesters had engaged in acts like "spitting on police officers, cursing at them, trying to instigate them."

2*He added, "It really is a disgrace for people that supposedly want peace."

"There are police officers who are out there trying to do their job, trying to protect people's liberties and rights to voice their opinions," New York's top cop explained. He might have also noted that New York's finest sacrificed 23 hero cops in the 9/11 attacks.

He said his police force had shown "tremendous restraint" in dealing with the hostile peaceniks. Still, "there is this hard core group of demonstrators (and) they're there to cause problems," Kelly told Grant.
    ++++++++++++
1*Unlike the Vietnam war protests you can't call out the National Guard to quell rioting in the streets. They sent them to Iraq!
War protesters are what got 4 Kent State students killed.
As T SIMS says had the Kent State students been minding their own business that day it wouldn't have happened.

[dcilor=red]2*They holler peace and practice war in the streets:Their actions speak louder than their words.[/color]

I agree that Butch did not intend to violate the TOS, but I thank you for having the guts to record that he did.

    No.

First, difficult periods in our collective history are ALWAYS present (it's simply a matter of for whom the difficulty is greatest at any given time). Second, difficult circumstances should NEVER excuse bigotry, even as they expose said bigotry.

Butch will not get the benefit of the doubt from me on this one. I'm just sorry that I didn't know it sooner.

You should have seen this coming, Steve. The thread was headed in this direction anyway, and Butch simply took it to it's obvious end.

    """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
I just received this and thought others might find it interesting:

Subject: Think twice before eating Mc Happy Donuts.

This week a Guard Unit in Morgan County Ohio was activated.
The local community worked for donations to keep food available to the troops and their families on Sunday as they readied to move out and be with there
    families on that last day.
Food came in from all contacts,.........
    Except McHappy's Donuts !
The management could not even donate day old
    donuts.

They said they didn't believe in this war and that they would not help these soldiers and families.

Because of a US Soldier you have a right to have a business.
Because of a US Soldier you have a right to freedom of speech and a right to say your views.

Because of the Government we have a War, and My only son will leave this week to fight for our Freedom.
This family doesn't like war any more than anybody else, but I will stand
beside these SOLDIERS, this country, this flag.

With your coffee tomorrow, ask where those donuts came from, and think about a SOLDIER alone and away from his family as you enjoy it.

You know I don't ever remember seeing a
McHappy's Donut sign that said .......... NO SOLDIERS SERVED HERE

Pass this on to every one you can if you feel as I do.

Admittedly, perhaps the quote from Dr. Van Lin was [arguably] inappropriate. However, it had NOTHING to do with racism or bigotry.

Therefore I applaud Steves decision to remove same, even though no racial remark was in fact made nor intended. By removing Dr. Van Lins quote but not Marci's accusation leaves me defenseless. I won't accept the preposterous accusation that I did make a racial/bigoted remark by another board member, now that others cannot examine the (now removed) remark for themselves.

Incredibly, there will always be those who scream racism and/or bigotry as soon as they see a comment they don't like.

    Nothing new here.

Want proof? I happen to be a white male. So is Peter Jennings and Senator John Kerry.
