Re: CAN YOU PASS THIS QUIZ ? why do we let this this comparison between abortion clinic murderers and muslim extremists go. their is no comparison. that is such a horrible argument and comparison. if there were more the 25 abortion drs murdered in the last 20 years I would be suprised. The extremist Christians who commit these murders are nutbags and should be profiled so these murders do not take place, which I can not remember hearing about lately. But I do know that there almost 3000 people killed on 9/11/01 and countless more killed by extremist muslims over the past 30 years. Oh my I must be racist too. I said extremist muslim.

Re: CAN YOU PASS THIS QUIZ ? Two U.S. Soldiers Survive Week in Desert NORTHERN KUWAIT (AP) - They gave away much of their food to Iraqis. They drew ``SOS'' in the sand. One of them passed the time writing poems to his wife back home. For a week, two American soldiers were stranded in the Iraqi desert. They survived - hungry, thirsty and tired, but eager to get back to their unit and back to the war. In a dispatch Sunday from a reporter embedded with the Army's 75th Exploitation Task Force, The New York Times Web site reported the story of Specialist Jeffrey Klein, 20, of Independence, Ky., and Sgt. Matthew Koppi, 22, of Asheville, N.C., both mechanics with the Army's Third Infantry Division. The Pentagon told The Associated Press on Sunday it had no information about the two. The soldiers said they were stranded when their truck's clutch failed on the way to tow an officer's Humvee that had broken down as the division was traveling toward Baghdad. They said a staff sergeant had ordered them to wait, and said they would be picked up. No one did. So the two dug trenches to defend their position, and took turns on watch. They gave most of their food to hungry Iraqi civilians, and watched nervously as white vehicles - a trademark of Saddam Hussein's paramilitary Fedayeen - passed by. Koppi had become a father 10 days before he was deployed, and he wrote poems to his wife. ``It has been weeks since we have spoken, I know her heart is close to broken,'' went one couplet. The soldiers were found Friday by Marines in Chinook helicopters. They were dropped at a desert battle outpost, and then taken to Camp Udairi in northern Kuwait by Col. Richard R. McPhee, who commands the 75th Exploitation Task Force, which was on a mission in southern Iraq. They were given a medical checkup, new uniforms and a hot meal. Klein's wife, four months pregnant with their first child, took a while to calm down when he called her on a satellite phone. McPhee praised their resourcefulness and dedication. ``When we found them, they just kept saying that they wanted to return to their unit as soon as possible to be part of the battle,'' he said. 03/30/03 20:03 The END ************************* LB 59
One man from West Virginia this is a good one >One .....man from West Virginia > >A brigade of Iraqi soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a >voice call from behind a sand dune. "One man from West Virginia is better >than ten Iraqis." > >The Iraqi commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the dune >whereupon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes and >then, silence. > >The voice once again calls out "One man from West Virginia is better >than one hundred Iraqi." > >Furious, the Iraqi commander sends his next best 100 troops over the >dune and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of >battle, again, silence. > >The Rebel voice calls out again "One man from West Virginia is better >than one thousand Iraqi." > >The enraged Iraqi commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the >other side of the dune. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets >and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought.... Then >silence. > >Eventually one badly wounded Iraqi fighter crawls back over the dune >and with his dying words tells his commander, "Don't send any more >men......it's a trap. There are two of them.
One man from West Virginia A soldier says I AM CURRENTLY STATIONED IN KUWAIT. SOME OF THE PICTURES FROM HOME DISTURB ME AND SOME OF MY COMRADES. WE SEE DEMONSTRATIONS AND ANGER,VIOLENCE FROM PEACE PROTESTERS AND VIEW FAITHFUL IRAQIS. WHY IS IT THAT IRAQIS CAN STAND BEHIND A LEADER WHO STARVES THEM, TORTURES THEM, AND STEALS FORM THEM YET OUR PEOPLE CANT STAND BEHIND OUR LEADER. WE SEE STONGER FEELINGS FOR IRAQI CASUALTIES THAN WE DO FOR OURS. PROTESTORS WHO THINK THEY ARE DOING A SERVICE FOR US ARE DILLUSIONAL. THIS IS NOT HELPING. I AM FRUSTRATED HERE SEEING COMRADES CAPTURED AND INTERROGATED ALL THE WHILE CATCHING PHOTOS OF PROTESTORS BACK HOME WORRYING FOR THE POOR IRAQI PEOPLE AND HOW UNJUST OUR ACTIONS ARE. THE TIME FOR PEACE PROTESTS IS OVER. YOU ARE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US. UNFORTUNATELY THAT IS THE WAY IT IS. I HOPE YOU ARE ALL PROUD OF YOURSELVES. WE HERE CERTAINLY ARE NOT PROUD OF YOU. One man from West Virginia U.S. Troops Rescue POW in Iraq WASHINGTON (AP) - American troops on Tuesday rescued Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch, who had been held as a prisoner of war in Iraq since she and other members of her unit were ambushed March 23, the Defense Department announced. Lynch, 19, of Palestine, W.Va., had been missing since nine days ago with 11 other U.S. soldiers from the 507th Maintenance Company. The unit was ambushed near Nasiriyah after making a wrong turn during early fighting in the invasion of Iraq. Five other members of her unit were later shown on Iraqi television answering questions from their Iraqi captors. Lynch had been listed as missing in action but was identified by the Pentagon Tuesday as a POW. She was not among the seven U.S. soldiers - including the five from the 507th shown on television - formally listed as prisoners of war. The rescued soldier's hometown erupted in celebration at the news. The Fort Bliss, Texas-based 507th Maintenance was attacked during some of the first fighting in Nasiriyah, a Euphrates River-crossing city where sporadic battles have raged since U.S. troops first reached it. N.C. Jessica enlisted through the Army's delayed-entry program before graduating from Wirt County High School in Elizabeth. ``You would not believe the joys, cries, bawling, hugging, screaming, carrying on,'' said Lynch's cousin, Pam Nicolais, when asked Tuesday about the rescue. ``You just have to be here.'' All of West Virginia is rejoicing. This is an amazing tribute to the skill and courage of our military.'' The END ************************* LB 59
1 out of 3 French people want Iraq There was a new poll done in France: 1 out of every 3 French people want Saddam to win the war. Are there people still out there who support the French???? Who doesn't want to boycott the French?
1 out of 3 French people want Iraq That is so CRAZY. When Soddaminsane took power in 1979, he launched a war against Iran in 1982. The only reason it stopped in 1988 is b/c both countries were worn out and couldn't fight anymore. So when they regained a little strength in 1990, they took Kuwait because they "felt that Kuwait was a part of their country" from way back when. Then the UN (led by us), pushed them back. They haven't been able to fully regain their strength back from that, but you can bet, if we had jkust left him alone, they were well on their way back to having a powerful military again. When they did regain their military strength again, who would they pick on next? Jordan? Turkey? Who knows. But my point is, that Saddam has always been engaged in war when he was able to do so. Do the French think that he would leave them alone? That's just ridiculous to think that. If Saddam or Osama could get to them, they would. I just don't understand these people.......?????
1 out of 3 French people want Iraq Prank Caller Tells Family Army Son Died At a time when military families are so on edge with worry and concern for their loved ones serving in the war with Iraq, a prank telephone caller in Flagstaff, Arizona devastated the family of an Army soldier when he falsely told them their son was dead. Hours after a photograph of Danny Hogg, the father of 22-year-old soldier Wayne Hogg, was published in the Arizona Daily Sun at a Support the Troops rally, a man called the Hogg home and told them their son had died in Iraq. The caller said "we need to let you know Wayne died two days ago," reports The Associated Press. The report was false, but the news was horrendous for the family to hear. It took them a full day to get confirmation from the Army that Wayne was alive and well in Iraq. "The (caller) did what he intended to do; he caused grief from Flagstaff to Iraq," Danny told AP. lled. When anyone in the military is killed, the notification process is the same for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. The next-of-kin is notified in person. What made the prank call so believable to the Hogg family is that they had not heard from Wayne since January. Once the Army confirmed to the Hoggs that Wayne was fine, they arranged for a phone call. The END ************************* LB 59
1 out of 3 French people want Iraq far more often, say terrorism experts, operatives are sent out to, in effect, live off the land, to blend into the background of the societies they target, and to wait -- sometimes for years -- to strike. Counterfeiting pays for and protects their secret lives. And they are getting better at it all the time. The global center of the terrorist counterfeiting trade, not surprisingly, is the Middle East. Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq I don't want to boycott the French. Do you have a link or other information about this article? (Specifically, something that could validate what you're telling us...) By the way, if you TRULY want to boycott everything French, why don't you start with your freedom as an American...they gave that to us.
Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq "By the way, if you TRULY want to boycott everything French, why don't you start with your freedom as an American...they gave that to us." No sir! That is not true! They did send scores of French troops over to AID us in that endeavor. But it's a well known bit of information that this was MAINLY because they hated the English and King George as much as the colonists did. I guess Chirac has forgotten that famous picture of Hitler and his two thugs standing in front of the Eiffel Tower. And as I've said before, when the Allies (led by the US) stormed the coast of Normandy, that was the SECOND time we saved them from having to learn German. On a more positive note, I applaud Tony Blair for standing up for what he knew was right, even though he committed political suicide in the process.
Re: Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq No, sir. That is true! I'm well aware that they helped us because they hated England, but the fact of the matter is we would not have won without their aid. Furthermore, are you implying that Chirac is obligated to agree w/all American policies because we saved France a few times?
Re: Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq I don't know if LB found it the same place I did, but the story I read gets uglier: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm.../nypost/20030403/cm_nypost/rooting_for_saddam ... "But it comes on the heels of an act of vandalism that can only be described as disgusting. An obelisk erected in the French town of Etaples, where 11,000 British and American soldiers who died in another heroic effort - the liberation of France in World War II - are buried, was vandalized last week. Among the sentiments scrawled in red paint: "May Saddam prevail and spill your blood.""
1 out of 3 French people want Iraq Larry King was just interviewing a reporter from France, who claims to have just interviewed the French Prime Minister. According to the reporter, the PM said, ad-libbing here - France is still opposed to the war, but will remain on the side of the British and Americans. Interestingly, LK mentioned the poll referenced in a couple of previous posts, he wanted to know if it was true. She said the poll was worrisome. According to her, 52% of France want an American Victory 23% Want Sadaam to stay in power. The reporter was Christine Ockrent, French 3 Television.
Re: Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq Thank you jlyn for finding that link. The article was even worse than I thought. How can the French people want Americans to die?? disgusting. The freedom the french people have to call Americans pigs and wish for our blood be spilled is what they owe us. If our American blood wasn't spilled back in WWII France wouldn't exist right now. He wouldn't have the FREEDOM that he has to speak his mind if it wasn't for us. France rolled over faster than Iraq is right now. Boycott the French?? I SAY YES!!!!!
Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq Please don't take that one remark to mean that France wants Americans killed. Having spent a significant part of my life in France, I thought you may want to know that if that quote was indeed written, doesn't it sound a little bit like an Islamic Fundamentalist credo? The reason for that is the millions upon millions of Arabs that live in France. Is it not possible that one of THEM wrote that? Also, please notice that this "article" cites NO resources for its claims and it is in fact not an article at all-- rather an Opinion piece. A while back, I posted a letter from a French friend in which she blatantly expressed her gratitude for what the US has done for France. I personally know several dozen French men and women, all of whom have never forgotten what America did for them. Please don't buy into the media hype regarding this. Look, there are protests all over the US, too...does that mean that every American hates America? Definitely not. Does it even mean that all Americans share the anti-war viewpoint? Definitely not. Please, please, please my fellow Americans, don't believe everything you hear.
Re: Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq You are right in that it didn't cite sources, but again, it was repeated on TV in the last hour, and a French reporter was aware of the poll. In all fairness, neither LK or the French woman mentioned the vandalism, so who knows if that is true. And yes, the first thing that came to my mind on reading about the destruction was that it probably was an extremist.
Re: Re: 1 out of 3 French people want Iraq Subject: Dealing With Protestors 3/29/03 >To nobody's surprise there were protestors today in DC. They attempted to disrupt the metro system and block the Key Bridge, a leading artery into DC from Northern Virginia. I got hosed twice because I come in from NoVA on the metro and it is raining hard which makes traffic worse anyway...to the point--I got off my train in Rosslyn because I had to use the bathroom. When I was getting back on the train, there were protestors on the train platform handing out pamphlets on the evils of America. I politely declined to take one. An elderly woman was behind me getting off the escalator and a young (20ish) female protestor offered her a pamphlet, which she politely declined. The young protestor put her hand on the old woman's shoulder as a gesture of friendship and in a very soft voice said, "Ma'am, don't you care about the children of Iraq?" >The old woman looked up at her and said, "Honey, my first husband died in France during World War II so you could have the right to stand here and bad mouth your country. And if you touch me again, I'll stick this umbrella up your ass and open it." > >I'm glad to report that loud applause broke out among the onlookers and the young protestor was at a total loss for words. GOD Bless America The END ************************* LB 59
