A company emailed me today named http://www.creditfirstonline.com. They claim on their website that for $45/month, they will place three $10,000 positive unsecured credit accounts on your credit report, thus increasing your FICO score.

Has anyone heard of this before? Is this some new scam? Is it even legal? ....sounds too good

Forgot to mention that they can't even spell correctly, as their title reads "Our Progarm" instead of Program!

    Thanks,

    Summer

scam. illegal. They will take your money and that will be it. See the recent topic about a catalog company, that may be a legit way of buying a tradeline.

Who is you know who? Anyone notice that I mis-spelled tradelines, then complained about the website's mis-spelling. Oh well :)

I can't find out where this company is even located. They only list emails and an 800 number. Do catalogue companies report positive tradelines to the cra's?

Now, what happens when joe car salesman actually LOOKS at your credit report and sees a $50K credit line with a 550 FICO?

It sounds legal. you are basically opening an account with a company that will approve you for that credit line. They then report your account and the associated CL - I don't see anything illegal.

However, although I think it looks legal, it doesn't look like a good idea.

    Adding trade lines are ILLEGAL!!!

Unless you are talking about asking the "local phone, gas, electric, sewer, trash, to report WHEN THEY USUALLY DON'T REPORT...

    Summer. NO!

    1. This is a weak frontpage website. something a person can put up in less 1/2 hour..

    2. The info is unencrypted, and they are asking
for information that can be used for identity theft:

---- This post method does not use https ------
    form method="POST" action="_vti_bin/shtml.exe/enroll_me.htm" webbot-action="--WEBBOT-S"
    -----------------------------------------------------

This site clearly belongs in the scam section of creditnet.

    George...

If they are legitimate tradelines, what's illegal? I'm not defending this company but if the tradelines exist, what's illegal?

It almost sounds like those chain-mails you get saying to order "reports A-D" from so and so by sending them $1 in cash. Those companies skirt the law by actually selling a product, albeit flimsy.

This company seems to skirt the credit reporting laws in a similar fashion. I would think that as long as this company pays it's dues to the CAs for their subscription, and the tradelines exist, it would not be illegal. Unetical - yes, illegal - no.

The CRAs don't seem too worried about it as long as they get paid.

Whoever they are they went through the trouble to make their domain name registration anonymous... scam no doubt. These hoodlums probably just want to straight out steal your money. Who do you think is behind this website? Some angel no doubt...

"you-know-who" is "bobby" - who used to post here, trolling for business, and being abusive.

I agree. I'm not saying they're the equivalent of Mother Theresa. I'm looking at the legality of what they do. It appears unethical but legal. In any event, like I said - not a good idea.

YOU BOUGHT NOTHING FOR WHAT THEY CALL (3) TRADELINES...how do you think that is legal?

It would be different if you bought (3) cars @ $10,000 each, BUT YOU DID NOT DO THAT!!!

If you want to do it...GO RIGHT AHEAD, DON'T LET ME STOP YOU!!!

    Your gonna' do it anyway.

Hey George - Bite me. I think I recall saying at least twice that this is a bad idea - CORRECT?

What exactly do you BUY when you open a $10K credit card account? Are you saying that they can't legally report the $10K limit because you didn't BUY anything?

YOU BUY A "FAKE" TRADE LINE FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T EXIST...

    I give up...

    George.....

My whole argument is based (and I said this) on the fact that the tradeline really exists. If someone wanted to purchase $10K worth of their products on the credit line and they said no, then I would say it's illegal because the lines don't exist.

How would someone prove that the tradelines don't exist? Just in case you missed it the first 2 times - I'm not condoning it - it appears unethical and I personally wouldn't get involved in it but where can it be proven that the tradelines are fake unless they decline someone access to them?

Sounds like a scam to me, but here's the info on that site/company:

    Credit First, Inc.
    12864 Biscayne Blvd
    185
    Miami, FL 33181
    US
    305-899-9911

FYI, I got this info by looking up who owns the domain for that site.
