Damn, how can one person run up so much debt?? Look, I don't know what your problem was that got you in BK and such, but with that much in bad debt, I don't think you need good credit!
I have been looking at your list and trying to think of something to say. First off... Could job sticking it to Providian for almost 30k, that made my whole day. Have you ever thought about laying low for awhile, you know, time heals all wounds? This is a good read I messed up my credit pretty bad my first time around, when I was right out of college. Stupid me. Bad thing about laying low is your history starts over. I am almost 40 and the oldest thing on my CR's is my 4yr 11m old Orchard card.
Yeah I was looking at the Providian amount. I can't imagine Providian giving out such a high CL, even if the balance has late fees and whatever BS fees that they made add. Best regards, Mirage
Were all these accounts included in BK? If so, they are reporting wrong, which could mean $$ to you. Have you tried disputing them?
yes, all of these were included in my bk except one or two of the collection agency ones. and how can these be $$$ to me, im new to this and well i simply want them off my record. i want to clean up my credit report, and yes, every thing is getting disputed. like i said before im new to this. and well. as soon as i figure out how this works im sending my dispute letters
Damn I'm impressed. Obviously you had good credit and a 6 figure income before something major happened. Otherwise I can't see how you got to this point. And I thought MY credit sucked. Ever consider relocating to another country or getting a new SS#? Seriously though, I'd have to say this is one for the BK gurus, if it's all disputable.
OMG... You make my $5,000 look sooooo weak. I almost feel relief. I think the big thing is I am wondering if you could share your story. What got you to that point?
Your best bet is to move to a different addy that is on your BK. That will be the last known addy from the OCs as well. Get the BK addy off your CR. Dispute each as "not mine" first....including the BK itself. Your largest amount of deletions will happen during first dispute and you should wait until then before you decide your game plan after that. Next, since I don't see HH or Orchard on your list, get an Orchard secured card. You have to start with new credit lines. NEVER EVER pay this late. Keep good, larger than min payments with Orchard as you continue to dispute. CHOD is probably your best time to get deletions. Post back after your first round so we can see where you need to go next.
I would disagree on the above suggestion to dispute your BK first. If you succeed, then any dispute you have saying "I never had a BK" will result in a chargeoff, late, etc. w/out a BK. Leave the BK for last. It's going to take ten years to fall off by itself, so brace yourself - this is going to take a while. Dispute w/your CA tradelines first. They're easier to knock out using validation. Then you'll deal with your OC. If you don't understand these acronyms, look around and read up. When you're ready to take on your OCs, search for "original" or "OC" AND "validation" for guidelines. You're 18 months out of your BK. Start building credit. You might be able to get a Cap1 unsecured card. If you can't get unsecured, get secured. Use it and pay it off, leaving tiny balances. Try to get a Target Guest card. Same strategy - charge up to the limit (careful - leave $40 slack for misc charges that could put you over). If you have some money, no matter how small, find a credit union that does loans, credit cards, etc. Open a savings account and keep using them. After six months, talk to them about getting a small loan against some savings. It really doesn't matter how small the loan is, just do your research and make sure they report to at least one CRA, preferably all 3. You're trying to establish history here. You've knocked it all down w/the BK, rebuild slowly and meticulously. As stated before, NEVER be late. Setup online accounts to pay your bills automatically, a few days BEFORE the due date and always MORE than the minimum required. If you can't see a way to do this, don't even bother getting the cards - you'll be in worse shape w/lates, overlimits, etc. fresh out of a BK. This is going to take a while. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. Worst case, it will take 5.5 more years for your bad TLs to falloff. By then, you'll have a 5.5 year history and you'll be back. I'm 2.5 years out of my Ch7 and it's still tough. You can see my scores in my sig, and I was about 550 when I started in May.
