I started a rather detailed post about "Settlement with Nationwides Amex".

    Here's my cut-to-the-chase question:

What happens at the "magical" 180-days-late date? Nationwide has had my debt for 2 months, but they won't give me the date the 180 days started, nor when it ends. Thanks.

Amex is quick on the trigger to sue, or even get default judgments resulting not only in wage garnishments but also freeze/rob you of your bank account. Close your bank accounts ASAP, cash your checks, and pay everything else with money orders or cash.

Okay, I violated all the rules by dialoging with NCInc. before I found this board. But consensus that AmEx is so hard-nosed and NCI as well about negotiating a debt (mine is 22K) and cannot protect my house in my state with chap7 OR 13, I might as well start payments sooner rather than later, even tho it will be a financial hardship for what they are demanding. Is there anything I need to have "in hand" other than my down payment to bring me current, and the schedule of payment before agreeing to pay? ...to protect my previous pristine credit rating or am I just screwed at this point? Amex WILL NOT talk to me so no use trying to pay to them, plus interest will kill me and NCi has offered 0/0 for 6 months, 9.9 thereafter. Thanks. Hope this is the last you'll hear from me. I want to get this cleaned up by COB today.
