Could not get the search engine to work. I was hoping I would get the contact information fairly quickly for Mr.Cooke. I'm dissappointed some apparently don't want to share.
Naundi, I'd use Planet Feedback if I were you. That's the best approach if you've never spoken to Mr. C. Also, I'm sure that Cap One monitors his activities (ie. increased # of calls, emails, and on and on).
1-800-955-1455 EXT 6418 8-5 NEW YORK TIME WORTH REPEATING---->If you did not PFB...DON'T~~"COLD CALL"
I PFB'd Mr. Cooke but he never called. Over the week end though I got a letter from Cap 1 to settle my chargeoff at 40% or more. Will let you know what happens.
Called the number listed on the letter from Cap 1. It is acutally for a collection agency called Northland Group. Spoke to a very nice woman named Christine who agreed to settle my account for 475.00. Original amount owing is 950.00 as long as I pay in full by Dec 6. She first offered me a higher amount to be paid in 3 installments. I asked her if I could get a lower amount if I paid in full. That's when she gave me the 475.00. It is going to be paid at my closing tomorrow.
I hope you have it in WRITING that the account will be GONE off your credit report(s) and WON'T ever show up again, and that they WON'T sell any balance to any other CA...
George, The letter says they (Cap 1) will update my credit report as account settled. She told me that since the letter was from Cap 1, they do the reporting and will move from R9 to R5. Northland is not reporting this debt on my CRA. I have tried disputing on all reports but it keeps coming back verfified. I don't know that I realy have a lot of options left. I am reinfinancing and was told it had to be paid at closed. The best I thought i could do was to negotiate the amount. It was that or pay the whole thing. I tried PBF to talk with Mr. Cooke but he has never called. That's why when I got the letter over the week end, I decided to give it a try.
It took him almost 2 weeks to call me back, if it's only been a week, I would wait another week or so. He gets busy sometimes.
Re: 1st phone call from E. Cooke .. Legally, an account cannot be both "settled" and "past due (R5)" at the same time. If it's settled is means there's no outstanding balance. However, if it's past due (R5) it means there's an outstanding balance that hasn't been paid for over 150 days. Saar
