In one of my account history it is showing 2 charge off dates; 1-2002, 7-2001. Also, the balance history last entry is; $1,538 06/2001. This tradeline is from creditexpert Experian...do I have any options of getting this off of my report? Any help will be appreciated...

the tradline is listing 2 different dates of 'charge off', for 1 account. I was wondering if I should dispute 'inaccurate dates' with the oc and the cra's? or does anyone else have a better idea? :)

    Hi Jjulz,

I'm a little confused as well.

Namely, I am unaware that the same TL can contain 2 different charge off dates. I didn't think there was room for 2 CO dates.

Is this within the same tradeline or are there 2 TL's for the same account?

    ??

This is an example of what jjulez is talking about (on Experian):

    Account History:
    Charge Off as of 12-2001, 2-2001, 1-2000, 9-1999

Those are simply the dates that the account was reported, and as of those dates the account was a charge off.

Is this Experian? If so, the reported since date should be 1-2002; the 'last reported' or 'verified' date should be 7-2001. Am I correct?

They do this kind of crap all the time, those are probably the dates the chargeoff was reported, not the date the account was actually charged off.

See section 623(a)(5) of the FCRA. The furnisher of the information is obligated to notify the CRA of "the month and year of the commencement of the delinquency that immediately preceded the action." (The action in this case being the charge off.)

See also section 611(a)(5)(A) The CRA is required to delete or modify as appropriate any item that "is found to be inaccurate or incomplete . . ." If they are not reporting the date of the charge off, then that item is incomplete and they have to either report the date of the delinquency preceding the charge off, or delete it.

Or at least, that is my take on it.
